As our Ship Operator, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant and commercially efficient operation of the assigned ship, managing voyage planning, efficient cargo stowage, quality control practices, port rotation and bunker management.

What You Will Be Doing

Manage the ship's commercial trading utilization through efficient cargo stowage, quality control practice, and voyage planning and execution consistent with port/terminal/regulatory restrictions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a commercially efficient operation of the ships assigned. This includes, but is not limited to, voyage planning, cargo stowage, port rotation, bunker management and active voyage management.
  • Maintains customer contacts for ETA's and PTA's and other Operational information.
  • Responsible for sending operational or logistical instructions to ships with due regard for all safety, regulatory and procedural requirements. Confirm with the ship's Captain that any instructions or requests can be carried out safely within the laws, local rules, industry guidelines or regulations and company procedures pertaining to the activities involved.
  • Supports the ship and voyage to follow all international, local and other applicable regulations, industry practices and company procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensures that the ship and voyage is in compliance with all operational and commercial aspects of the voyage and cargo fixture.
  • Accountable for the proper documentation for each voyage.
  • Supports handling of voyage related incidents.
  • Responsible for reviewing, approving or rejecting operational costs and credits against the voyage.

Qualifications


  • Logistics and/or Business-related education is preferable.
  • Maritime License (unlimited) from an accredited institution is an advantage.
  • Work ashore within maritime industry in an operational capacity, (tanker/chemical company preferred) or Sea-going experience as Officer in charge of Navigational (onboard Tankers, preferred).
  • Ability to see big picture and understand how the different aspects of an operation contribute to the final result(s).
  • Ability to prioritize and an established sense of urgency.
