Shift Trader

My client, a leading global hedge fund specialising in systematic and quantitative trading is seeking a Shift Trader to join its Dubai office. The firm develops and trades fully automated strategies that capture short- and long-term market inefficiencies across multiple asset classes. Their approach combines deep quantitative research, technology-driven execution, and disciplined risk management - all supported by a robust global trading infrastructure.

This role sits within the Central Trading & Monitoring function - a key part of the firm's around-the-clock trading operations. You'll be at the heart of the firm's live trading environment, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of automated systems while playing a critical role in risk control, operational oversight, and continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities

In this fast-paced and dynamic environment, your responsibilities will include:

• Real-time Market & Risk Oversight: Monitor trading exposures, risk limits, and P&L in real time. Identify irregularities or system issues, escalate as appropriate, and execute hedging actions in accordance with established procedures.
• Trading Systems Supervision: Oversee systematic trading strategies during your shift, ensuring continuous operation and rapid response to alerts or failures. Restart or adjust strategies as needed to maintain performance and compliance.
• Operational Support & Coordination: Liaise with trading, quant, and technology teams to resolve issues, support lifecycle management tasks (e.g., position rolls, expirations, corporate actions), and assist in new market or product launches.
• Automation & Process Enhancement: Develop tools and scripts to streamline monitoring, reporting, and booking workflows. Proactively identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency through automation.

What They're Looking For

• Bachelor or Master degree in a quantitative, technical, or analytical discipline.
• Strong programming skills in Python (experience with KDB/Q is an advantage).
• Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities, with the confidence to make decisions in real time.
• A high level of attention to detail and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
• Flexibility to work rotational shifts as part of a 24/7 global coverage model.
