The Shift Supervisor is responsible for supervising and managing the direct staff of all production units within a designated shift. He/she coordinates the daily production floor activities and delegates assignments to production teams and individuals. The Shift Supervisor manages the smooth running of the production processes to enhance product quality and maximise efficiency and performance enabling the products to be manufactured on time. The Shift Supervisor will ensure that all products are produced to the specified specifications; target and deadlines are met. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures; and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
Your Responsibilities
To take responsibility of the shift in terms of management of staff, management of production processes and quality targets
Manage and motivate direct reporting employees by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring and appraising job results
Initiate, coordinate and enforce the adherence to standard operating procedures, policies and procedures
Set SMART individual targets and conduct employee performance reviews and disciplinary actions
Plan, approve and administer the absence and leave planning of the production floor personnel; monitor and enforce working time, breaks and attendance
Assist in the selection and training of direct reporting employees
Develop and maintain training programs to ensure that all personnel have for now and the foreseeable future the necessary skills to perform their duties safely and productively
Ensure the adherence to set product quality specification and standards; manage quality issues quickly with minimal disruption to production scheduling; provide support in- and external audits
Ensure a full and accurate completion of all SAP/ MES booking steps within the area of responsibility
Ensure a timely initiation of corrective maintenance activities and support the release of equipment back to production use
To have an active role in company's continuous improvement plan to achieve plans for future growth within the company
Maintain close liaison with other Shift Supervisors to ensure smooth running of production with minimum downtime and wastage; ensure production handovers are effective communication tools
Communicates effectively with the Production Manager CRM, informing and updating him/her regularly with regards to delivery dates, work progress, quality, cost reductions, manpower planning and operating problems
Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe work environment at all times by educating and directing personnel
To ensure that Health and Safety rules and regulations are adhered to during the shift and all matters relating to this are dealt with using the resources within the company
Your Profile
Minimum Diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing or equivalent
Continuing education in Production Management will be preferred
At least 3 to 5 years of relevant working experiences in the medical device technology or pharmaceutical industry in supervisory capacity in a manufacturing environment
Experience working in a clean room environment will be advantageous
Good understanding of production and manufacturing processes and techniques
Basic knowledge of Six Sigma will be advantageous
Familiar with ISO13485 and GMP
Proficient in SAP and MES
Strong intercultural experience and excellent interpersonal skills
