Role Summary
The ServiceNow Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting ServiceNow solutions across ITSM and related modules.
This role requires strong hands-on development skills, the ability to translate requirements into technical solutions, and collaboration with architects and senior developers to deliver scalable and maintainable implementations.
Roles & Responsibilities
Development & Configuration
- Perform hands-on development using:
- Business Rules, Script Includes, UI Policies, Client Scripts
- Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, Service Catalog, Workflows
- Configure and customize ITSM modules (Incident, Problem, Change, Request)
- Develop solutions aligned with OOTB-first and best practice approach
- Support data loads, transformations, and basic data validation
Solution Design & Delivery
- Translate business requirements into technical designs with guidance from senior team members
- Participate in design discussions, solution walkthroughs, and sprint planning
- Contribute to low-to-medium complexity customizations while minimizing technical debt
- Support testing (unit, system, UAT) and defect resolution
Integrations & Technical Support
- Develop and support integrations using:
- REST / SOAP APIs
- MID Server (basic exposure)
- Assist in troubleshooting issues, debugging scripts, and resolving defects
- Support production issues and hyper care activities as part of the team
Collaboration & Stakeholder Interaction
- Work closely with Architects, Leads, Project Managers, and Functional teams
- Participate in customer discussions for requirement clarification
- Provide updates on development progress and risks
Quality & Best Practices
- Follow coding standards, platform guidelines, and security practices
- Participate in code reviews and peer reviews
- Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and upgrade-friendly
Requirements:
- Hands-on experience with: ITSM modules (Incident, Problem, Change, Request, Service Catalog)
- CMDB (basic understanding)
- Scripting: JavaScript, Glide APIs (server-side & client-side)
- Integration fundamentals: REST / SOAP APIs
- Basic understanding of ACLs, security concepts, and performance considerations
- 3-4 years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience
- Experience working on end-to-end ServiceNow implementations or enhancements
- ServiceNow certifications (preferred): CSA, CIS, CAD
