Job Summary
The candidate will lead and execute comprehensive electrical instrumentation, installation, testing, commissioning, operation, and maintenance activities for high-voltage substations. You will ensure system reliability, compliance with safety standards, and coordinate with project teams and utility clients to deliver successful project outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Test, commission, operate, and maintain electrical equipment including protection relays, circuit breakers, CTs, PTs, transformers, and switchgear in high-voltage substations to ensure operational reliability and safety compliance
- Troubleshoot electrical systems to identify faults and implement corrective actions that maintain system integrity and performance
- Review and interpret Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), layouts, vendor drawings, and technical documents to guide installation and maintenance activities
- Coordinate site activities with utility clients, project teams, site managers, and engineers to ensure smooth execution and adherence to project specifications
- Perform testing of CTs, PTs, circuit breakers, power transformers, lightning arresters, isolators, HV and LV cables, insulation resistance, and continuity to validate equipment functionality
- Calibrate energy meters and test HT/LT motors to ensure accurate measurement and operational efficiency
- Conduct feeder and motor protection relay testing using OEM equipment from Siemens, ABB, Alstom, Schneider, L&T, and C&S Electric to verify protection system performance
- Install and set up electrical cabinets, panels, power and communication cables, railings, trucking, and free-issue components with precise wiring for power controls and I/O signaling cables
- Fix MCBs, relays, IO modules, terminals, and accessories, and perform cable marking, labeling, tagging, and assembling of controller panels for clear identification and maintenance
- Execute installation work for MV/LV switchboards (SWBD), including cable pulling, termination, and control cable termination between panels or cubicles
- Enforce all safety, quality, and company policies consistently on-site and in the office to support project field and strategic objectives
- Demonstrate strong decision-making skills during critical project activities to ensure timely and effective resolution of issues
Required competencies and certifications
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of field experience in electrical instrumentation and installation at work sites, preferably in similar industries
- Knowledge of electrical/instrument interfaces, electrical safety standards, and area classifications
- Ability to work independently with initiative and as part of a team, demonstrating strong troubleshooting skills
- Capacity to manage work pressure and meet project deadlines
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
- Willingness to work during shutdown periods, including night hours, beyond normal working hours, and on Sundays/public holidays
