Essential Functions
1. Leads a team of Superintendent(s), Technical Assistant(s), Procurement Executive(s) and Procurement Assistant(s) covering the technical and procurement aspects of vessel management.
2. Ensure the assigned fleet meets all regulatory, technical and operational requirements consistently.
3. Maintain the assigned ships in compliances to rules, regulations and requirements of the,
4. Promptly resolve defects and deficiencies to prevent down time.
5. Manage effectively any vessel downtime to expedite to operational status.
6. Monitor and take prompt appropriate actions as applicable to improve the assigned fleet's performance for efficient operation management
7. Organize a planned schedule for the assigned vessels and carry out at least two ship visits per week or more at sufficiently frequent intervals (at intervals that will achieve the intended purpose) to manage effectively the following, and machinery space housekeeping
There is proper handover and familiarization of joining engineer
8. Evaluate the Chief Engineers at intervals not exceeding 6 months or if circumstances required, at sufficiently frequent (at intervals to achieve the purpose) intervals.
9. Participate at intervals not exceeding 12 months in shipboard meetings with the Port Captain or if circumstances required, at sufficiently frequent (at intervals to achieve the purpose) intervals.
10. Follow up and close out within the due dates, the audited Non-Conformances and observations as documented in the reports.
11. Plan in ample time and attend to the assigned ships periodical and occasional docking. Refer chapter 4, Appendices 3 - Docking Guidelines.
12. Attend to and follow up to close up any requirements on ship matters relating to third party claims.
13. Assist in incident investigation and work closely with the Port Captain to complete the investigation report.
14. Provide feedback during the Company schedule meetings on the above performed tasks.
15. Joint attendance of SMC and MLC audits and SIRE inspections with the Port Captain should be carried out.
16. Provide supervision and mentorship to team of Superintendents and Assistant superintendents and procurement personnel.
17. Involvement in special shipping projects related to the company.
18. Represent the technical department in discussing fleet operational matters with 3rd parties.
19. Assist as is required to support the functions of the other departments.
20. Work in a responsible and harmonious attitude.
