Fleet Management
. Follow up on fleet technical issues with internal and external stakeholders.
. Oversee the safe and efficient operation, maintenance and repair of assigned vessels in the most economical manner consistent with the approved budget.
. Assist with preparation and control of technical budgets, including dry docking and major repairs. Ensure transparency in unbudgeted expenses and implementation of cost-control measures.
. Review LO/FO analysis reports and vessel maintenance reports on a weekly basis and assist the Fleet Manager and Team Leader in formulating short and long term asset management strategies.
. Ensure Ship Managers closely monitor all Flag, Class and Statutory Surveys/Inspections and follow up on timely rectification of deficiencies.
. Investigate major machinery failures and accident reports related to safety, including those that may result in insurance claims, in collaboration with the Marine Department.
. Monitor industry and technological developments as well as regulatory changes, ensuring compliance discussions with Ship Managers and internal stakeholders.
. Oversee lubricant oil supply chain management.
. Act as backup for the Leader during absences.
. Participate in crew selection, briefing and screening, as well as in crew seminars.
. Any other job or task assigned by Head of Department, Technical and Optimization Department and Leader, Technical Unit
Budget & Cost Control
. Assist team leader in reviewing/approving annual technical budgets for vessels
. Monitor operating expenses, spare parts consumption (including critical spares), and repair costs
. Identify cost-saving measures without compromising safety or compliance
Dry-Docking and Repairs
. Maintain the docking schedule of assigned vessels, coordinating with Commercial for vessel positioning and with Technical Managers for docking preparation
. Ensure managers prepare docking budgets in line with MOLCT guidelines, templates, and timelines
. Finalize dry-docking specifications with Ship Managers, evaluate quotations and recommend the most suitable yard to management
. Communicate, coordinate and attend dry-dockings and repairs as required, keeping the office informed of costs, progress, close-out and final payments
. Oversee execution of scheduled dry-dockings, major repairs and modifications, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
. Maintain the docking master register and ensure docking-related records are updated in SharePoint
Ship Visits, Screening, and Inspections
. Support the Marine Department in periodic audits of ship owners and managers under the direction of the Head of Department, Technical & Optimization
. Conduct ship visits and inspections, ensuring adherence to the organization's commitment to asset lifecycle maintenance and upkeep
. Perform at least one detailed condition inspection of each vessel annually, including structural assessments of cargo and ballast tanks (where accessible), completing visit reports and ensuring timely close-out of findings in coordination with managers.
Technical Competencies
. Hands-on experience with various onboard equipment across multiple makes and models
. Strong technical knowledge, including familiarity with international maritime regulations, chemical cargo operations and tanker industry standards
Core Competencies
. Logical, practical problem-solving skills with the ability to understand technical issues
reported by managers and provide additional guidance and suggested solutions
. Strong interest in staying abreast of the latest developments in marine engineering, technology and industry practices
. Proficiency in MS Office applications, accounting systems, Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS) and performance management platforms
Required Qualifications
. Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or a related field.
. Seagoing experience with a Class 1 Marine Engineer (Motor) Certificate of Competency, or equivalent.
. Strong knowledge of maritime regulations, ship performance metrics, and cost management strategies.
