Senior Technical Specialist – ABB Motion Drives

In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide advanced technical expertise across ABB's Motion Drive products, supporting project execution teams, commissioning activities, and both internal and external stakeholders on complex, high-impact applications.

Each day, you will contribute to the engineering, optimisation, and implementation of drive solutions, ensuring successful end-to-end project delivery from design through commissioning. You will play a key role in resolving complex technical challenges, enhancing system performance, and strengthening engineering standards and best practices within the business.

This role is part of the ABB Motion - Drive Products business in Singapore.

Key stakeholders include customers, project execution teams, commissioning engineers, service teams, sales, engineering, product management, and global technical support teams.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Supporting project execution teams across engineering, installation, testing, and commissioning phases, ensuring safe, timely, and high-quality delivery
• Providing hands-on technical expertise in commissioning, troubleshooting, and system optimisation of ABB Motion Drive products
• Defining and delivering optimal technical solutions and configurations, including standard and customised offerings, to meet medium- to high-complexity project requirements
• Leading technical problem-solving and case management, ensuring efficient resolution of complex product and application issues during both project execution and operational phases
• Delivering engineering guidance, technical documentation, and advisory support to ensure adherence to project specifications, industry standards, and ABB best practices
• Identifying and mitigating technical risks, while driving continuous improvement in project execution, commissioning processes, and solution quality
• Developing and strengthening technical competency within internal teams through mentoring, structured knowledge sharing, and on-the-job coaching
• Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for ABB Motion Drives, contributing to technical excellence, innovation, and solution development

Qualifications for the Role

• You demonstrate strong expertise in industrial automation technologies, particularly variable speed drives (VSDs), motor control, and power electronics, within sectors such as data centres, utilities, manufacturing, infrastructure, cranes and winches
• You bring 5-10+ years of relevant experience in a technical role supporting or delivering drive systems, electrical engineering, or industrial automation solutions, with exposure to mission-critical or industrial environments
• You possess hands-on experience with ABB Drives (ACS series preferred), including commissioning tools, diagnostics platforms, and integration with electrical and control systems
• You are analytical, solution-oriented, and customer-focused, with a proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues and contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
• You hold a Degree, Diploma, or relevant Technical Certification in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent), supported by strong practical, hands-on industry experience aligned with Singapore operating standards
• You demonstrate effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical, value-driven solutions for customers and internal teams
• You hold valid working rights in Singapore, with relevant local certifications or licenses (e.g., EMA Electrical Worker License) considered an advantage
