Job Description

Job Responsibilities

1. Plan and implement a scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) program for medical equipment and systems.

2. Perform preventive maintenance (PM), breakdown maintenance (BM), and commissioning of medical and Dental equipment and systems.

3. Maintain and update the biomedical equipment database.

4. Proactively manage and renew vendor service contracts and warranty maintenance programs.

5. Liaise with equipment suppliers, user departments, and the Materials Management Department (MMD) on requirements, specifications, and commissioning of medical equipment and systems.

6. Prepare technical specifications and tender documents for the purchase or lease of biomedical equipment and systems.

7. Conduct technical evaluations for the purchase of new equipment and systems.

8. Develop and implement plans to evaluate the performance of in-house and contract service providers against targets and benchmarks.

9. Implement and monitor quality assurance and risk management activities related to medical equipment and systems.

10. Manage the efficient use of departmental resources, including equipment, time, physical assets, and supplies.

11. Provide ad-hoc consulting and training services on biomedical engineering matters pertaining to medical equipment and systems.

12. Undertake staff performance management by directing, motivating, developing, and counseling staff as appropriate to achieve operational and service excellence.

13. Promote teamwork, cooperation, and harmonious relationships within the Department and with all other hospital employees.

14. Participate in hospital committees or workgroups as required.

15. Assume other responsibilities as directed by the BME Manager/Engineer within the scope of a Biomedical Engineer.

16. Perform other duties and projects as assigned by Managers or other supervisors.

Job Requirements

1. Education & Experience (any of the following):

2. Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Biomedical Engineering with at least 2 years of healthcare industry experience OR Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, or Biomedical Engineering with at least 2 years of healthcare industry experience.

3. Prior experience working in a vendor's service team or a Hospital Biomedical Engineering department

4. Self-driven, with the ability to plan and implement clinical engineering programs.

5. Possess a high level of technical knowledge and skills in biomedical engineering technology.

6. Hands-on experience with hospital equipment and the ability to attend to basic breakdown calls for in-house medical/dental equipment to minimize downtime is preferred.

7. Familiarity with HSA/NEA regulatory guidelines for product clearance during new equipment evaluation is required.
