About the position

Norges Bank Investment Management is seeking an experienced Senior Sustainability Advisor to join our Social team within the Active Ownership department.

The department works to further the long-term economic performance of our investments and reduce financial risks associated with the ESG practices of the companies we invest in. The Social team contributes through policy development, analysis and company engagement on topics including human rights, human capital management, anti-corruption, responsible tax and consumer interests.

In this role, you will serve as a key internal sustainability resource, advising portfolio managers and stakeholders across NBIM while conducting and supporting company engagements on social topics. The role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of sustainability and investment, engaging with company boards and senior management on behalf of a fund that owns on average 1.4% of all listed companies globally. The role is based in Oslo and some travel may be required.

What you will do

  • Provide expert sustainability advisory on social topics to investment teams and senior stakeholders across NBIM
  • Engage with portfolio companies on social topics, including human rights, labour practices and responsible business conduct
  • Further develop NBIM's policies and practices on social sustainability, including company expectations and proxy voting
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of companies sustainability risk exposure and performance
  • Engage with standard-setting bodies, peer investors and other external stakeholders
  • Contribute to external communication and reporting on responsible investment and ESG integration

What you need

  • Master's degree in sustainability, economics, finance, law or a related field with strong academic records
  • Minimum 6-10 years of relevant experience in sustainability, responsible business conduct or ESG, preferably within financial services or the private sector
  • Solid understanding of ESG issues and their relevance to investment decision-making
  • Proven experience engaging with the private sector and contributing to multi-stakeholder sustainability initiatives
  • In-depth knowledge of international sustainability standards, reporting frameworks and responsible business conduct
  • Proficiency in multiple languages is an advantage
