Lead and manage all steel structure engineering activities from design coordination through fabrication, erection, and project completion.
Review structural steel drawings, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and engineering calculations for compliance with project specifications and applicable codes.
Coordinate with consultants, architects, structural engineers, and project teams to resolve technical issues and design discrepancies.
Plan and monitor steel fabrication, delivery, erection, and installation schedules to meet project milestones.
Supervise site execution of structural steel works, ensuring compliance with approved method statements, drawings, and safety requirements.
Conduct technical reviews, inspections, and quality checks on fabricated and installed steel structures.
Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and fabricators to ensure timely material procurement and production.
Review and approve material submissions, technical submissions, method statements, and inspection test plans (ITPs).
Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement corrective actions to minimise delays.
Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), technical queries, site instructions, and engineering changes.
Ensure compliance with Singapore standards, BCA requirements, project specifications, and relevant international codes.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Site Engineers, Junior Engineers, and Coordinators.
Support project meetings and prepare engineering reports, progress updates, and technical documentation.
Assist the Project Manager in achieving project objectives related to quality, cost, safety, and programme.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in structural steel engineering within the construction industry.
Proven experience in managing steel structure works for high-rise buildings, industrial facilities, infrastructure, or large-scale commercial developments.
Strong knowledge of structural steel design, fabrication, welding, bolting, erection, and temporary works.
Familiar with Singapore construction standards, BCA requirements, and international design codes such as Eurocode, BS, or AISC.
Proficient in reviewing structural drawings, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and engineering calculations.
Experience coordinating with consultants, steel fabricators, specialist subcontractors, and site construction teams.
Good understanding of structural analysis software and engineering applications such as STAAD.Pro, ETABS, Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, or similar software.
Strong problem-solving, planning, coordination, and technical decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
Able to work independently under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
