About the Team:
You will be part of Sea's HQ Finance department, which plays an integral role in supporting the accounting and finance needs of our three core businesses (Garena, Shopee, Monee) and across our diverse regional market presence. Within the department, the HQ Finance's Tax function ensures the Group's operations remain compliant, risk-resilient, and tax-efficient. You will manage and support the end-to-end tax lifecycle, encompassing tax planning, tax risk management, tax compliance and tax controversy, while driving process improvements and tax automation initiatives for Monee or Shopee business.
Job Description:
- Support direct tax, indirect tax, and transfer pricing matters, in coordination with relevant tax and finance teams
- Oversee tax compliance and reporting obligations (CIT, VAT/GST, WHT, TP documentation, and other regulatory filings), ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with group policy
- Assist in the review of tax provisions, effective tax rate (analyses, and cash tax positions, identifying drivers for material variances and potential tax risks
- Participate in tax feasibility assessments for local and regional business initiatives, working closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to identify tax implications and support informed decision-making
- Support the design and implementation of tax structures and intercompany arrangements, in collaboration with the Group Transfer Pricing team and external advisors where necessary
- Monitor tax risks within the portfolio, maintain documentation of key tax positions, and assist in the assessment of uncertain tax positions for reporting purposes
- Coordinate tax controversy matters, working with local finance teams and external advisors to manage the tax audit, submissions, and resolution processes
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, including enhancement of documentation standards, reporting workflows, and tax-related automation efforts
- Any other tasks and projects assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting/related discipline or other related professional qualifications in accounting, such as Chartered Accountant and ACCA
- Advanced taxation qualifications or relevant certifications are an advantage
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience, preferably in a tax function in a Big 4 firm and/or relevant tax experience in a MNC
- Strong technical knowledge of direct and indirect taxes and transfer pricing regulations
- Experience in handling cross-border taxes and transfer pricing
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Able to manage projects independently
