Job Description
1. Category Strategy Development and Execution
- Manage category margins, budgets, forecasting and product assortment to optimise category performance.
- Analyse sales data, market trends and consumer insights to identify patterns and spot opportunities for category growth
- Develop pricing strategies based on market conditions and product performance
- Collaborate with sales channels to create promotional plans and campaigns for the category and coordinate with marketing for execution
- Coordinate training for sales channels to facilitate understanding of products to properly meet customer needs
2. Product Management
- Partner sales channels and procurement team to forecast demand and collaborate with vendors to ensure product availability.
- Monitor stock levels, fluctuations in demand and ensure proper inventory management.
- Identify slob and collaborate with sales channels to manage slob reduction
- Maintain product database to facilitate sales and logistics
3. Vendor Relationships
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and promotional activities with suppliers.
- Ensure that new products meet quality standards and are delivered in accordance to internal guidelines.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in category management.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to draw actionable insights from complex data sets.
- Demonstrated success in leveraging market insights to drive product strategies.
- Ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate effectively.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software and data analysis tools.
- Ability to develop and implement category strategies.
