Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Category Management

  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of assigned food commodity categories, including new product introduction, assortment optimization, pricing strategy, and slow-moving inventory management.
  • Drive category growth through strategic planning, product mix optimization, and margin enhancement initiatives.
  • Monitor category performance, sales trends, and profitability to identify opportunities for revenue growth and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and execute category strategies aligned with business objectives, customer needs, and market demand.

Pricing & Revenue Management

  • Conduct regular market benchmarking, competitor analysis, and price surveys to develop competitive pricing strategies while maintaining target gross margins.
  • Monitor procurement costs, supplier pricing, and market fluctuations, particularly within fresh produce and perishable food categories.
  • Collaborate with suppliers through sourcing exercises and negotiations to enhance cost competitiveness and profitability.
  • Analyze product performance and adjust pricing strategies proactively in response to market trends, supply conditions, and customer demand.

Data Analysis & Commercial Insights

  • Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly sales, pricing, and customer purchasing data to identify market trends, consumer behavior, and growth opportunities.
  • Generate actionable insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and commercial planning.
  • Develop and maintain performance dashboards and reports to monitor key business KPIs, including sales growth, category profitability, inventory turnover, and margin performance.
  • Utilize data-driven approaches to improve category performance, customer engagement, and overall business outcomes.

Marketing & Promotional Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute marketing campaigns, promotional activities, and seasonal initiatives across online and offline sales channels.
  • Manage e-commerce platform promotions, including special offers, bundle deals, new product launches, and inventory clearance campaigns to maximize product sell-through.
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to develop promotional calendars, campaign strategies, and product visibility initiatives.
  • Evaluate campaign effectiveness and return on investment (ROI) through post-campaign analysis and performance tracking.
  • Identify market opportunities and consumer trends to support product positioning, branding, and customer acquisition strategies.

Market Analysis & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Conduct ongoing market research and competitor analysis to stay informed of industry developments, pricing movements, and emerging consumer trends.
  • Lead or participate in regular cross-functional meetings with Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, and Marketing teams to align business priorities and category strategies.
  • Provide timely market intelligence and commercial recommendations to support business planning and maintain market competitiveness.
  • Ensure effective coordination across departments to achieve sales targets, inventory availability, and customer satisfaction objectives.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Manage and develop relationships with both existing and prospective customers to drive business growth and customer retention.
  • Understand customers operational requirements and business objectives to provide tailored product and service solutions.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and key point of contact for strategic accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and long-term partnership development.
  • Gather customer feedback and market insights to support continuous improvement of products, services, and category offerings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Food Science, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 4-5 years of experience in Category Management, Product Management, Commercial Operations, Procurement, or Marketing within the FMCG, fresh food, food service, or B2B distribution industry.
  • Strong understanding of fresh produce, food commodities, pricing dynamics, and category management principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in pricing strategy, margin optimization, sales analysis, and commercial planning.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities with a customer-centric mindset.
  • Results-driven, commercially astute, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment.
