Job Description: Senior Special Education Teacher (Practitioner-Lead)

Role Overview
The Senior Special Education Teacher is a practitioner-leader who maintains an active teaching role while supervising, mentoring, and managing the education team. Reporting to the Manager for Education / Director for Education & Operations, this role ensures high-quality educational delivery, effective IEP implementation, and compliance with organisational standards through direct instructional practice.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching & Case Management
. Maintain an active teaching caseload, including complex and multi-needs learners.
. Conduct assessments, lesson planning, intervention delivery, and parent briefings.

2. IEP Oversight & Quality Assurance
. Lead and review the development, implementation, and revision of IEPs.
. Ensure IEPs are evidence-informed, measurable, and aligned with centre frameworks.
. Provide guidance and corrective feedback to staff on IEP quality.

3. Staff Supervision & Mentorship
. Supervise Special Education Teachers, Communication Teachers, and junior staff.
. Conduct lesson observations, case discussions, and professional feedback sessions.
. Support staff development and succession planning.

4. Educational Operations
. Oversee daily education operations, lesson quality, and documentation standards.
. Identify operational gaps and implement improvements in consultation with management.

5. Parent & Stakeholder Communication
. Manage complex or escalated parent cases.
. Ensure professional, consistent, and appropriate communication practices across the team.

6. Programme & Pedagogical Leadership
. Lead internal training, research, and development initiatives.
. Ensure alignment across special education, communication, and literacy interventions.

7. Governance & Compliance
. Ensure adherence to ethical standards, PDPA requirements, and internal policies.
. Act as a first-line authority for professional conduct and practice standards.

Qualifications & Experience

. Minimum of 5 years experience in Special Education or related fields.

. Demonstrated experience in supervising or mentoring education professionals.

. Strong applied knowledge of educational and psychological frameworks.
