We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a team delivering digital products and services used across the public sector.
You will work across modern web applications, contributing to the design, development and delivery of reliable, secure and user-focused software. This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone who enjoys building products, solving technical problems and working collaboratively within an Agile environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, develop, test and deploy modern web applications and digital services.
- Build responsive and maintainable frontend applications using React.js and JavaScript.
- Develop and integrate backend services using Go and/or Node.js.
- Work closely with UX designers and other team members to translate user needs into effective product experiences.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across existing applications and services.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to maintaining high standards of code quality, security and performance.
- Work with both relational and non-relational databases and manage data across different environments.
- Develop and maintain automated tests to improve application reliability and quality.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, containerised environments and application deployments.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum development practices and continuous improvement across the team.
- Share knowledge and contribute to the growth of other engineers.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 7 years of software engineering experience, or an equivalent level of demonstrated technical capability.
- Strong experience building modern web applications using JavaScript.
- Hands-on frontend development experience with React.js.
- Experience with Go and/or Node.js is highly advantageous.
- Good understanding of modern software engineering practices, including clean, maintainable and testable code.
- Experience with JavaScript testing frameworks or libraries such as Karma, Mocha, Chai and Sinon is advantageous.
- Experience working with relational and/or non-relational databases is advantageous.
- Exposure to Docker, CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based deployments such as AWS or PaaS environments would be beneficial.
- Experience working across the software development lifecycle within an Agile environment is preferred.
- Experience working in Scrum teams would be an advantage.
