Our client is a global organization building a new Global Engineering Organization to strengthen internal software delivery, improve production ownership, and build long-term engineering capability. They are now looking for a Senior PHP Application Engineer to maintain, stabilize, and modernize business-critical PHP applications supporting core business operations.
This is a hands-on role based in Singapore, working closely with Product, QA, DevOps, Infrastructure, and business stakeholders. The role requires a strong ability to work with existing and legacy PHP systems while ensuring stability and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain, stabilize, and improve existing PHP applications and integrations
- Diagnose and resolve production defects, performance issues, and data inconsistencies
- Develop enhancements while ensuring minimal disruption to operations
- Understand and improve legacy PHP codebases safely
- Refactor code to improve maintainability, reliability, and security
- Build and manage integrations with APIs, ERP systems, and third-party platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver stable applications
- Participate in code reviews and improve engineering standards
- Document system behaviors, support procedures, and technical decisions
- Support L3 escalation and contribute to root cause analysis
- Identify technical debt and modernization opportunities
- Mentor junior engineers
Requirement:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- At least 5+ years of PHP development experience
- Strong experience with PHP frameworks (Laravel, Symfony, etc.)
- Solid understanding of SQL, relational databases, and data modeling
- Experience with APIs, integrations, and backend services
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, and Agile practices
- Ability to work with legacy systems and incomplete documentation
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to work independently
