Position Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the systems-level design, integration, and life cycle support of semiconductor process equipment platforms - including EFEMs, wafer-handling robotics, and vacuum/atmospheric transport systems. This is a technical lead role: you will manage a team of engineers spanning automation and software disciplines, own the systems architecture of tool scheduling and hardware control, and act as one of the technical authority for engineering design practices aligned with SEMI industry standards. You will also engage directly with customers, including on-site field support for system-level issues that require deep architectural understanding.
Key Responsibilities:
. Lead across-functional team of engineers (automation & software) delivering semiconductor equipment platforms, setting technical direction and reviewing design decisions
. Own the systems architecture of hardware control platforms, including scheduling logic, subsystem interaction (robotics, load ports, vacuum systems), and system-level failure analysis
. Design and evolve advanced scheduling algorithms and architectures governing multi-chamber, multi-robot equipment behavior, balancing throughput, safety, and reliability
. Define and enforce engineering design practices aligned with SEMI industry standards (e.g.SEMI E-series equipment communication and safety standards) and applicable quality frameworks (e.g. ISO 9001:2015 design and development controls)
. Translate customer and process requirements into system-level architecture, working across software, electrical, and mechanical domains
. Provide field support for customer sites - diagnosing system-level integration issues, leading root-cause investigations, and directing remediation across the engineering team
. Maintain systems documentation: architecture diagrams, interface control documents, failure mode analyses, and design review records in line with SEMI/ISO design control practices
. Participate in and lead technical reviews, design gate reviews, and cross-site engineering coordination (Singapore, Sri Lanka, India, Taiwan, Malaysia teams)
. Represent engineering in customer-facing technical discussions and demonstrations
. Support recruitment, onboarding, and technical development of engineering team members
Required/Preferred Qualifications
. Bachelor's or master's degree in systems engineering, Mechatronics,Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
. 3+ years of experience in semiconductor equipment engineering, with demonstrated systems-level ownership (not purely component-level design)
. Proven experience leading or managing a team of engineers across multiple disciplines
. Strong understanding of hardware control system architecture -controller-to-subsystem communication, sensor/actuator integration, safety interlocks
. Working knowledge of advanced scheduling systems/algorithms for automated equipment (e.g. multi-robot, multi-chamber wafer transport scheduling)
. Familiarity with SEMI equipment standards (e.g. SEMI E30 GEM, E37 HSMS,E40, E87, E90, E94) and engineering design controls under ISO 9001:2015 (Clause8.3) or equivalent
. Experience providing field support/service for equipment at customer sites, including troubleshooting system-level (not just component) issues
. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate independently while leading others
. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including customer-facing technical communication
. Willingness to travel for customer field support as required
