Senior Software Engineer Low Latency Trading Systems
EC1 Partners is working with a leading global trading technology business looking to hire a Senior Software Engineer to focus on low latency systems across a high-performance trading platform.
This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You will be responsible for driving improvements across the full technology stack, working closely with engineering, infrastructure, and business teams to optimise performance and reduce latency across the platform.
This role suits someone who enjoys solving complex engineering problems, working close to trading systems, and having a direct impact on performance and revenue-critical systems.
What you'll be doing:
- Owning and driving initiatives focused on reducing latency across the trading platform
- Working closely with engineers, infrastructure teams and business stakeholders to identify and remove bottlenecks
- Designing and implementing telemetry, monitoring and instrumentation to highlight performance issues
- Analysing system performance and producing data-led insights to prioritise improvements
- Contributing hands-on to the design and development of low latency services
- Continuously improving system architecture, performance and reliability
- Supporting production systems and troubleshooting time-critical issues
- Driving best practices across development, testing and deployment
- Collaborating across teams to deliver scalable and efficient solutions
What they're looking for:
- Strong experience in C++ within low latency or performance-critical environments
- Experience working on trading systems or high-performance distributed systems
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms and system design
- Experience with additional languages such as Java or Python is beneficial
- Strong understanding of system performance, networking and optimisation
- Experience with modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, TDD and Agile
- Strong communication skills, able to work across both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proactive mindset with a focus on ownership and continuous improvement
