Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to design and enhance scalable backend systems that support Weather Information Dissemination. This role involves working on complex enterprise systems, building reliable backend solutions using Node.js and TypeScript, supporting batch jobs and streaming data, and applying modern engineering practices such as CI/CD and SRE to improve system resiliency and delivery efficiency.
Job Responsibilities
- Partner with software engineers and cross-functional teams to understand development delivery and system resiliency objectives.
- Assess existing technical landscapes, workflows, and processes to identify inefficiencies, pain points, and improvement areas.
- Recommend suitable engineering practices such as CI/CD and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to improve system performance and delivery efficiency.
- Develop transition roadmaps from current-state systems to future-state solutions, including recommended tools, processes, and best practices.
- Explain complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders and provide actionable recommendations.
- Prepare supporting diagrams and documentation where required.
- Support proof-of-concept initiatives to validate solutions and assist during early implementation stages.
- Collaborate with fellow Software Engineers to share insights, tools, scripts, and best practices.
- Support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across engineering teams.
Job Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience in an individual contributor software engineering role.
- Hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Experience with cloud service providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience building cron jobs and scripts to run batch jobs.
- Experience with streaming data.
- Strong track record in large-scale partner solution implementation, preferably in complex enterprise environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge technical discussions between internal teams and external partners.
- Experience working in highly secured or air-gapped environments such as government, banking, or similar systems will be an advantage.
