About The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer at Alta, you will have the opportunity to leverage your extensive skills in modern frontend development within a rapidly evolving environment deeply integrated into the leading edge of financial innovation. You will be instrumental in building exceptional user experiences for our next-generation API/service-driven platforms. Key elements of our technological ecosystem include modern front-end frameworks, serverless infrastructure, and integration with blockchain, DeFi, and no-code platforms.

Our team merges Web2 and Web3 skills. You will design and implement the user-facing side of our platform, consuming API-driven services and ensuring secure, scalable, and highly performant frontends. You'll integrate smart wallets and DeFi partners to serve investors, emphasizing practical innovation and robust security in every user interface we deliver for digital capital markets.

As a senior team member, you'll balance hands-on development with technical leadership in the frontend domain. You'll translate complex business needs and UX/UI designs into technical solutions, influence feature planning, mentor junior engineers, and play a key role in talent acquisition. Security, privacy, and accessibility are top priorities in everything we build. While your main focus will be frontend, we are looking for someone who is, and sports a get things done attitude.

We're a supportive, social, and entrepreneurial team of former investment bankers, technologists and strategists. Clear, honest communication is key to everything we do.

The sorts of things you'll be doing:

• Lead and contribute code as a key member of a technical team, focusing on UI architecture and implementation.
• Design, build, and optimize scalable, accessible, and high-performance user interfaces.
• Guide and participate in code reviews to ensure technical quality, particularly for frontend best practices.
• Own frontend deliverables from design through to release, collaborating with design, product, and business stakeholders.
• Improve our infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines in partnership with DevOps for frontend deployments.
• Work with backend teams to define and optimize API contracts for efficient data consumption.
• Expand automated testing (unit, integration, E2E) for the frontend and participate in regular security and accessibility reviews.
• Stay current with new frontend technologies and champion team-wide best practices, sharing insights to refine our stack and processes.

As our Senior Software Engineer, we know you'll be doing significant learning on the job. That said, we're hoping from Day 1 you'll bring:

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a heavy focus on frontend development.
• Expert proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and at least one modern frontend framework (e.g., React, Vue, Angular).
• Deep understanding of modern web standards (HTML5, CSS3, ES6+), responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Experience with state management libraries (e.g., Redux, MobX, Zustand) and building complex, single-page applications (SPAs), Progressive Web App (PWA).
• Track record in developing scalable, secure, and cloud-native applications.
• Familiarity with testability principles and patterns (TDD or similar) for frontend components.
• Solid experience with GitHub/Bitbucket in collaborative teams, and proactive, constructive code review habits.
• Experience consuming RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL APIs efficiently.
• Proficient with GitHub Actions and Docker Container.

Added Bonus Experience:

• Proficiency in modern backend languages (Node.js, Go, Ruby on Rails, or similar).
• Experience with frameworks such as NextJS & NuxtJS
• Expertise in data modeling for both relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) databases.
• Experience with API-driven and service-oriented architectures beyond just consumption.
• Understanding of blockchain principles, smart wallets, and decentralized architectures from a frontend integration perspective.
• Hands-on blockchain development (Ethereum/Solidity or similar).

Beyond the technology, we also hope you've got some interest in:

• Financial services, particularly the investment space
• Digitized and Decentralized finance (DeFi), and all the new financial products and possibilities that come with these innovations (cryptocurrencies, tokenized assets, NFTs, etc.)
• An appreciation for experimentation and designing systems/processes that accommodate business and technical agility
• Food! We talk about it a lot :)

As a close-knit, social team we generally prefer to work together in person at one of our offices. That said, we provide a flexible working environment that is adaptable to periods of working from home.
