Job Description

Role & Responsibilities

  • Casework and Counselling
  • To readily identify and assess risks inherent in highly complex cases by integrating a range of information.
  • To readily use professional tools and working templates to guide staff in case assessment and case planning
  • To represent the centre in its advocacy efforts for vulnerable families, with the aim of advocating for these families to have access to equal opportunities through collaborative practice with community partners
  • Groupwork and/or Community Work
  • To lead in the conduct of client/community assessments, adapt group/community work processes and specialized intervention strategies
  • To integrate best practices into group/community work
  • Supervisory Duties
  • To monitor supervisees compliance to professional processes (such as the use of tools and templates, adherence to practice policies)
  • To assess supervisees capabilities, identify professional growth areas and build training interventions to meet the growth areas.
  • As the identified Practice Lead of the Centre, to induct new hires in the centre through individual supervision during their probation period
  • Operational Managerial Skills (Operational Processes, Policies and Protocols)
  • To support the Lead Social Workers / Lead Social Service Professionals in the implementation of centre's operational and practice protocols, processes and policies
  • Undertake any other duties assigned by the Head of Centre

Qualifications, Competencies & Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work from an accredited institution / Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work from an accredited institution At least 8 years relevant experience in social work practice.
  • Inclination towards research and planning is an advantage
  • Office environment; home visit may be necessary
  • Domain expert knowledge of the relevant field
  • Possess relational skills to effectively network with government agencies, churches and community partners to place the agencies and the organization in good standing for the benefit of clients.
  • A good understanding of the quality standards required of each service under his/her purview
  • Knowledge and ability to engage, assess, provide intervention and evaluate practice
  • Ability to understand client groups and manage risk and protective factors
  • Ability to demonstrate reflective practice
  • Ability to engage stakeholders and partners
  • Knowledge and application of SASW code of professional ethics and Code of Social Work Practice
  • Knowledge of systems and availability of resources with a view to represent clients needs
  • Knowledge and ability to empower clients to access needed resources
  • Ability to identify available resources, social gaps and conduct relevant analyses
  • Possess cultural understanding and social sensitivity
  • Understand self, personal values, beliefs and the way these impact the working relationship with clients
  • Engage in self care and active learning
  • Possess positive attitude with good interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Competent in MS Office skills
  • Able to lead and manage a group of social workers to achieve project outcomes
