We are seeking an experienced Semiconductor Field Service Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in 8-inch (200mm) wafer fabs, specializing in CVD processes. The ideal candidate will have proven experience supporting Applied Materials Centura CVD systems and Novellus Speed (or similar Novellus CVD platforms). This role focuses on tool maintenance, troubleshooting, process support, and ensuring high equipment uptime in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Provide on-site field service support for 200mm CVD equipment, including AMAT Centura and Novellus Speed systems
Perform preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance (CM), and tool recovery activities
Troubleshoot complex issues related to process chambers, gas delivery, vacuum systems, heaters, RF/plasma, and temperature control
Support process qualification, recipe tuning, and chamber matching in collaboration with process engineers
Diagnose and resolve particle, uniformity, thickness, and defect-related issues
Perform chamber cleans, kit changes, seasoning, and tool calibration
Support tool installation, upgrades, relocations, and de-installation activities
Analyze equipment logs and trends to improve tool stability, yield, and uptime
Provide detailed service reports and root cause analysis (RCA) documentation
Act as a technical interface between customer, factory support, and applications teams
Ensure strict adherence to fab safety, EHS, and cleanroom procedures
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Electronics, or related engineering discipline
3-8+ years of hands-on experience supporting 200mm CVD semiconductor equipment
Strong working knowledge of CVD processes (e.g. PECVD, SACVD, TEOS, SiN, SiO, low-k, etc.)
Direct experience with Applied Materials Centura platforms
Experience with Novellus Speed or equivalent Novellus CVD tools
In-depth understanding of:
Vacuum systems (dry pumps, turbo pumps, throttle valves)
Gas delivery systems (MFCs, valves, gas panels)
RF generators, match networks, plasma diagnostics
Temperature control (heaters, thermocouples, ESC if applicable)
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings
Experience in high-volume 8-inch manufacturing fabs
Strong background in chamber matching, particle reduction, and defect troubleshooting
Familiarity with AMAT software, GUI, and log analysis tools
Experience working with customer process engineers during ramp or yield improvement phases
Willingness to support shift work, on-call rotation, and occasional overtime
Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset
Clear communication skills for customer-facing roles
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Team-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
Based at customer fab site
Cleanroom environment (full gowning required)
Occasional travel may be required
Freelancer with up to 6 months contract
