Job Description

Chugai Pharmabody Research Pte. Ltd. (CPR) was established in Singapore as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd (Chugai), a member of Roche group, in January 2012 and started operations on July 2, 2012. Located at Biopolis, (Geneo from September 2026) in Singapore, it aims to generate new antibody drugs based on Chugai's proprietary antibody engineering technologies, such as recycling antibody®, sweeping antibody®, bispecific antibody, various Fc engineered antibodies, and other new antibody engineering technologies that are underdevelopment.

Position - Senior Scientist in Cell Biology and Technology Unit

CPR is seeking a Senior Scientist with deep expertise in cell biology or pharmacology to advance regenerative medicine and cardiovascular/ metabolic (CVM) drug discovery, as well as to help shape novel therapeutic concepts. Reporting to the Research Manager, you will lead multidisciplinary projects from concept through execution, develop and validate cutting-edge cell-based models and assays, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate findings into therapeutic opportunities. Following initial training from a mentor on laboratory instrumentation and experimental workflows, you will be expected to work independently on day-to-day experiments.

You should have a strong passion for medical science and are driven to create and deliver innovative therapies that improve patients lives.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and contribute to regenerative medicine across key therapeutic areas, including CVM or other diseases

- Design and execute cell-based, image-based phenotypic, and high-content imaging assays, alongside in vitro and in vivo pharmacological studies

- Actively contribute to stem cell research and bioengineering initiatives

- Drive the development of novel drug discovery concepts from ideation through execution

Required Qualifications

- Ph.D.in Molecular and Cell Biology, Immunology, Pharmacology, or a related life sciences field (completed and awarded)

- 2-3years of relevant industry or postdoctoral experience

- Demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following areas:

- Regenerative medicine on specific tissue/organ (e.g., skeletal muscle, heart, lung, kidney, liver, pancreas, or others)

- Stem cell research or stem cell bioengineering

- Cell-based assay design and pharmacological studies

- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

- A collaborative team player with strong multitasking ability

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with 3D cell culture models (e.g., spheroids, organoids, organ slices, organ-on-a-chip systems)

- Hands-on experience in live-cell imaging and primary cell culture

- Knowledge of disease biology, including inflammation, cancer, fibrosis, CVM-related diseases, and regenerative processes

- Familiarity with antibody drug discovery

- Proficiency in a scripting language (e.g., Python, R)
