Job Description

How You'll Make an Impact

As a Senior Scientist, Analytical and Physical Science (APS), you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, driving a critical part of Lubrizol's Global Analytical and Physical Science (APS) team, focused on analyzing, characterizing and supporting the development of new molecules, particularly for Additives chemistries as well as Paints & Coatings products. You'll lead the APS technical support to internal and external businesses, customers or innovation partners. You should have a broad understanding of analytical and physical science techniques and be able to propose, lead and complete investigations and product development activities as needed. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing, and enhance modern life. In this role, you will:

Analytical and Physical Science

  • Design and optimize analytical methods (e.g., chromatography, spectroscopy, thermal analysis) for complex chemical formulations.
  • Perform hands-on laboratory work, including analysis, characterization, and testing and operating a broad range of equipment.
  • Develop structure-performance relationships to guide formulation and product development.
  • Operate and maintain advanced analytical instruments (e.g., NMR, FTIR, TGA, GC-MS, LC-MS).

Problem-Solving

  • Provide root-cause analysis for product failures or process deviations.
  • Support manufacturing and scale-up with analytical insights.
  • Champion safe operations in corporate technology labs at the Singapore site and maintain strong engagement with local HSES leadership.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Document, interpret, and communicate experimental results to colleagues, sponsors, and customers. This may be in the form of formal reports or presentations.
  • Collaborate effectively within a matrixed organization, working across global teams and business units.

Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success

Education Level

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related discipline advanced degrees (Master's or Ph.D.) preferred.

Industry Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of industrial experience in analytical and physical science supporting product development and problem solving.

Leadership Experience

  • Proven ability to lead small technical teams and deliver results through collaboration.

Relevant Technical / Soft Skills

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication abilities, with fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese.
