Role Overview
This role is ideal for an experienced development scientist to lead and contribute to projects at the intersection of supply chain analytics, optimisation, and advanced AI. The position focuses on delivering tangible, industry‑ready outcomes by developing novel algorithms, applying modern AI techniques, and translating research into deployable solutions.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership in data analytics and AI‑driven research, contribute to strategic project direction, and engage with stakeholders to support both industry collaborations and competitive research funding opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop custom, high‑performance algorithms to address supply chain optimisation and predictive analytics challenges.
Apply and adapt state‑of‑the‑art AI and Generative AI techniques, translating research concepts into practical, deployable solutions.
Lead technical problem definition and solution design efforts across data analytics, Generative AI, and advanced machine learning domains.
Apply expertise in areas such as statistical analysis, neural network frameworks, GANs, natural language processing, data generation and augmentation, and hyperparameter optimisation.
Continuously build and refine personal technical capabilities to remain at the forefront of emerging technologies.
Leverage domain knowledge across sectors such as aerospace, energy, land transport, and logistics to contextualise operational research problems.
Adhere to established software development practices to ensure robustness, quality, and maintainability of deliverables.
Support stakeholder engagement activities and contribute to securing industry projects and research grants.
Requirements
Doctoral degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related discipline.
Strong foundation in mathematical modelling, algorithm design, scientific computing, statistical modelling, and applied problem‑solving.
High proficiency in scientific programming languages such as Python, C, or C++, with experience using machine learning frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit‑learn).
Prior experience in supply chain optimisation domains such as fleet planning, network design, scheduling, or related areas is advantageous.
Demonstrated research output, including publications in Industry 4.0‑related topics such as Generative AI, optimisation, machine learning, or deep learning.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non‑technical audiences effectively.
