We are looking for a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) who will develop, optimise, and validate wireless power transfer (WPT) systems for electric vehicle charging roadway applications. The SRF will contribute to Double-D coil-based WPT system design, electromagnetic simulation, magnetic coupling enhancement, electromagnetic shielding evaluation, and laboratory validation in a multidisciplinary research project involving civil and electrical engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
Developing and optimising Double-D coil-based WPT systems
Simulating WPT efficiency, electromagnetic field distribution, impedance matching, and misalignment tolerance using electromagnetic simulation tools.
Designing and evaluating surfaces and/or dielectric matching layers to improve magnetic coupling
Evaluating electromagnetic shielding performance and electromagnetic field safety compliance
Developing laboratory measurement setups to validate WPT efficiency, shielding effectiveness, lateral misalignment tolerance, and system robustness.
Analysing simulation and experimental results, preparing technical reports, publishing research findings, and supporting project milestones.
Working closely with PhD/MSc students, undergraduate students, and collaborators from civil and electrical engineering disciplines.
Job Requirements:
PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Applied Electromagnetics, Power Electronics, Wireless Power Transfer, or closely related fields.
More than 5 years of research experience in wireless power transfer, electromagnetic compatibility/interference, electromagnetic shielding, antenna/coil design, or related areas.
Experience in electromagnetic simulation tools
Experience in WPT coil design, resonant inductive coupling, impedance matching, magnetic-field analysis, and efficiency optimisation.
Experience with laboratory measurements for WPT, electromagnetic shielding, or RF/low-frequency electromagnetic systems.
Good publication record in relevant research areas.
Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, C/C++, or equivalent tools for simulation, data analysis, and automation.
Good written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary research team.
