Job Description

The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of Smart Metering and Microgrid installation projects. The role ensures that engineering deliverables, site activities, vendor work, and project documentation are completed in accordance with technical requirements, safety standards, and project timelines. The Project Engineer works closely with Project Managers, Senior/Principal Engineers, Technical Officers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

What You'll Do:

Project Coordination & Execution

  • Coordinate daily and weekly site activities for smart metering and microgrid projects.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure alignment with schedule and scope.
  • Support installation, testing, commissioning, and backend integration works.
  • Provide timely project status, risk, and issue updates to Project Managers and Senior Engineers.

Engineering Deliverables & Documentation

  • Maintain and validate project deliverables such as installation records, test logs, and as-built documents.
  • Manage version control and distribution of drawings, SLDs, and technical documents.
  • Assist Senior Engineers in reviewing vendor submissions, specifications, and method statements.

Site Support & Technical Assistance

  • Perform basic site verification checks for installation quality and compliance.
  • Work with Technical Officers and contractors to resolve site coordination issues.
  • Escalate technical issues with supporting details.
  • Track material usage and ensure stock availability.
  • Coordinate logistics and report material shortages, defects, or delays.

Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to align technical requirements and timelines.
  • Support Project Managers in clarifying scope and resolving site-related matters.
  • Ensure vendor compliance with safety, quality, and documentation standards.

What You'll Need:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field with at least 3 years experience in related industry
  • Experience in utilities, infrastructure, smart metering, or microgrid projects is an advantage.
  • PMP certification is an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of electrical installation, metering systems, or microgrid concepts.
  • Ability to interpret SLDs, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in documentation and reporting.
  • Strong coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and documentation discipline.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working on-site and engaging with contractors and vendors.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
  • Ability to work in outdoor or substation environments.
  • Strong safety awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
