Rresponsible for overseeing and coordinating the deployment, installation, and commissioning of data centre infrastructure. This includes managing Mechanical, Electrical, Builders Work and Structural Works, while ensuring adherence to project timelines, quality standards, and safety requirements.
The role requires strong technical capability coupled with project planning and coordination skills. The Project Engineer will work closely with clients, vendors, and manufacturers to ensure smooth project execution from construction phase to data centre handover
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise installation and commissioning activities of data centre.
- Prepare and submit shop drawings, materials submissions, method statements, risk assessments and other required documentation.
- Review and interpret design document, tender drawings, shop drawings and other pre-construction documentations and highlight discrepancies and propose suitable solutions.
- Oversee the project deployment, installation and commissioning, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, industry standards and best practices.
- Able to work independently and is expected to manage multiple concurrent projects in various locations.
- Monitor project progress and update progress reports to ensure alignment with the master schedule.
- Ensure project costing does not exceed approved budget.
- Identify any works which are out of project scope and highlight to client as variation works. Evaluate the impact of the variation works (i.e. Cost and Schedule).
- Attend site meetings (project update or technical meeting) with consultants, main contractors and clients. Prepare and submit meeting minutes.
- Support site acceptance tests (SAT), troubleshooting activities, and issue resolution during deployment and commissioning.
- Prepare project reports, documentation, and updates for management and clients.
- Enforce site discipline, cleanliness, and adherence to EHS standards.
- Provide technical guidance to technicians, supervisors and contractors to ensure work quality and project compliance.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the reporting manager.
- Conduct site survey, provide engineering support and preliminary schedule to support the tendering process.
Requirements
- Prior on-site experience in data centre environments.
- Strong understanding of data centre infrastructure including but not limited to: cooling, airflow management, power redundancy systems, builders work, and structural works.
- Competence in reading and interpreting technical drawings and documentation.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organization, documentation, and time management skills.
- Proactive problem solver with the ability to work independently and within teams.
- Good communication skills in English (verbal and written).
- Proficient range of Microsoft Office Applications.
- Proficient in BIM and CAD.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in data centre infrastructure implementation.
- Demonstrated experience managing contractors and coordinating with cross-functional project teams.
- Self-motivated and good problem solving skills.
- Willing to learn, positive attitude.
