Senior Process Engineer (Balance of Plant / Wastewater Systems)

Overview
NES Fircroft is partnering with a leading engineering organisation to hire a Senior Manager, Process to support a large-scale infrastructure project involving Balance of Plant (BOP), water and wastewater systems, and mechanical systems.
This role will play a key part in engineering design management, commercial coordination, financial oversight, and stakeholder engagement across the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Design Management
- Support the Project Leadership team in managing BOP design activities across water, wastewater, and plant systems
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure alignment with project, regulatory, and operational requirements
- Review engineering deliverables including PFDs, P&IDs, functional descriptions, and design documentation
- Oversee preparation of Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings and documentation
Procurement & Commercial Support
- Support preparation of tender documents and commercial submissions
- Conduct technical and commercial evaluations for engineering and consultancy services
- Review contracts and commercial documentation, ensuring compliance with project requirements
- Work closely with procurement and project teams on vendor selection and package evaluation
Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare and present cost, revenue, and budget reports to senior stakeholders
- Support budget planning and forecasting, including contingency allocation
- Monitor and control project expenditure to align with approved budgets
- Review and assess variation orders and cost impacts
Operations, Testing & Commissioning
- Support development of Testing & Commissioning (T&C) procedures and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) documentation
- Coordinate with operations teams on plant readiness, handover, and O&M requirements
- Review and support preparation of Operations & Maintenance (O&M) documentation and as-built records
Compliance & Stakeholder Management
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and project-specific requirements
- Liaise with external stakeholders including clients, authorities, consultants, and auditors
- Identify potential risks and areas of non-compliance, recommending mitigation strategies
- Maintain strong working relationships with key project stakeholders
Administration & Governance
- Support preparation of management reports, presentations, and project documentation
- Review and validate procurement and financial transactions within internal systems
- Coordinate meetings, prepare minutes, and track key action items
- Maintain accurate and organised project records
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience in process engineering within EPC / infrastructure / industrial projects
- Strong experience in:Wastewater / water treatment systems (WWTP, WTP)Balance of Plant (BOP) or plant utility systemsProcess design (PFD, P&ID, calculations, FEED / detailed engineering)
- Exposure to Testing & Commissioning, SAT, and plant operations (O&M)
- Experience in tendering, commercial evaluation, and contract review
- Strong stakeholder management and coordination skills
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and large-scale infrastructure projects is an advantage
