Position : Senior PLC Engineer (Contract Worker (CW))
Contract role for 1 year at our client location.
Role Purpose
The Senior PLC Engineer is responsible for delivering safe, compliant, and reliable automation and control systemsolutions for Phama client manufacturing operations. The role combines hands‑on PLC engineering, PLC/HMI lifecycle management, and end‑to‑end project execution, ensuring automation systems and upgrades meet schedule, cost, quality, safety, and compliance requirements across their lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Automation, Support & Lifecycle Management
- Design, program, support, and troubleshoot Siemens PLC systems (S7‑300/400, S7‑1200/1500) using TIA Portal / STEP 7
- Develop, maintain, and upgrade HMI/SCADA systems using WinCC / WinCC Flexible / WinCC Unified
- Provide engineering support for PLC and HMI systems during operations, incidents, and planned maintenance
- Support PLC and HMI lifecycle management activities, including Obsolescence management, Version upgrades and migrations, Hardware and software refreshes and Backup, recovery, and system integrity checks
- Knowledge in Rockwell Automation PLC platforms (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, MicroLogix) using Studio 5000 / RSLogix
- Design and support industrial networks (PROFIBUS, PROFINET, Ethernet/IP, Modbus)
- Integrate PLC systems with instrumentation, VFDs, MCCs and packaged equipment.
- Interface PLC systems with DeltaV DCS via Profibus, VIM Serial & EIOC and OSI PI (OPC‑UA) where required.
- Lead and support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and site acceptance testing
- Troubleshoot control system issues to minimize downtime and production impact
Project Management & Vendor Coordination
- Manage automation projects from concept through commissioning and handover
- Plan and execute PLC/HMI upgrade projects, including scope definition, scheduling, and risk management
- Coordinate and manage automation vendors and system integrators during upgrade and lifecycle activities
- Review vendor proposals, technical solutions, and deliverables
- Track project schedules
- Manage risks, issues, scope changes, and technical clarifications
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for stakeholders and vendors
- Lead project meetings, technical reviews, and upgrade planning discussions
Quality, Compliance & Documentation
- Prepare and maintain automation documentation (control philosophy, I/O lists, lifecycle records, as‑built drawings).
- Ensure compliance with GxP, safety, data integrity, and cybersecurity expectations
- Adhere to applicable IEC, ISA, and site safety standards
- Support on activities including validation, audits, and inspection readiness during system upgrades and changes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or related Engineering discipline
- 7-10 years experience in industrial automation and control systems
- Minimum 2-3 years in a lead engineer or project engineer role
- Strong hands‑on experience with Siemens PLC platforms
- Experience in Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, Utilities environments preferred
Desirable (Value Add)
- Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent)
- Experience with PLC/HMI upgrade programs or site lifecycle roadmaps
- Industrial cybersecurity knowledge (e.g., IEC 62443)

- Supports site upgrades, cutovers, and commissioning activities as required
