Key Responsibilities
- Provide L3 support for Oracle databases running on Exadata, ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and reliability.
- Manage and administer Oracle RAC, ASM, Clusterware (GRID Infrastructure), and Dataguard environments.
- Perform Exadata health checks, resource management, patching, upgrades, and platform migrations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues (Break/Fix) in a critical production environment.
- Perform database performance tuning at both SQL and instance/database levels.
- Execute backup, recovery, and migration tasks using RMAN, Datapump, and Export/Import utilities.
- Use Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Grid Control for database monitoring, diagnostics, and maintenance.
- Support operating environments across Solaris, Linux, and AIX, including advanced shell scripting.
- Collaborate with development teams to analyze and resolve DB-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with Change/Release Management processes (ITIL-based).
- Work collaboratively with global and offshore teams, demonstrating strong ownership and initiative.
Required Skills & Experience
- 10-12 years of production support experience as an Oracle DBA.
- At least 6 years of strong hands-on experience with Exadata (RAC, ASM, Dataguard, Infiniband, storage cells).
- Proven experience managing high-performance, high-capacity databases in critical, large-scale environments.
- Strong expertise in Oracle 11gR1/R2 RAC setup, administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Proficient in Clusterware/GRID Infrastructure including CRS configuration and management.
- Expertise in SQL tuning, instance-level tuning, and overall optimization.
- Deep knowledge of backup and recovery strategies and tools, particularly RMAN.
- Hands-on experience with OEM Grid Control.
- Strong skills in Solaris, Linux, and AIX, along with advanced shell scripting.
- Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, and analytical abilities.
- Strong communication, stakeholder coordination, and documentation skills.
- Experience working with offshore vendors and in large corporate environments.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes (ITIL Foundation certification preferred).
- Strong sense of initiative, ownership, and teamwork.
