Job Description
We are looking for an experienced shipping professional to join our team as a Senior Operations Executive / Assistant Manager - Vessel Operations (LPG Tankers).
The successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial and operational management of company-owned and time-chartered LPG vessels, working closely with Masters, charterers, shipowners, ship managers, brokers, port agents and other business partners to ensure safe and efficient vessel operations.
Key Responsibilities
Vessel Operations
- Manage day-to-day operations of company-owned and TC-in LPG vessels.
- Issue voyage instructions and coordinate with Masters, charterers, owners, technical managers and port agents for smooth voyage execution, port calls and cargo operations.
- Arrange bunkers, insurance coverage, port agents and other operational requirements.
- Review vessel and cargo documentation and ensure compliance with contractual and operational requirements.
- Maintain accurate voyage and operational data in IMOS, including revenue, expenses and information required for voyage financial reporting.
- Prepare and issue invoices, verify vendor invoices and coordinate with Accounts on payments and collection of freight, hire and other receivables.
- Monitor voyage performance and identify opportunities to maximise revenue and control operational costs.
- Handle operational incidents and work closely with vessels, ship managers, internal management and Head Office to resolve issues.
- Review existing and new Time Charter and Spot contracts and provide operational feedback to the Chartering team.
- Support CAPEX and OPEX cost-control initiatives while maintaining operational and safety standards.
- Conduct counterparty credit assessments and sanctions risk checks.
Commercial / Chartering
- Support negotiations with customers and brokers on Charter Party rates and terms for VLGC vessels.
- Monitor LPG/tanker market developments and provide regular market updates to management.
- Prepare estimated and actual voyage earnings.
- Support negotiation and settlement of claims, including demurrage, deviation costs and insurance premiums.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, brokers and business partners and identify opportunities to improve fleet utilisation and profitability, including Time Charter and COA opportunities.
- Prepare commercial and operational reports, including vessel position lists and documentation for fixed business.
- Support and guide operations staff to ensure smooth and safe LPG vessel operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with approximately 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Relevant experience in shipping and/or ship management.
- Vessel operations experience within LPG, gas or tanker shipping would be advantageous.
- Good understanding of voyage operations, Charter Party terms and commercial shipping practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel experience with IMOS would be advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal, coordination and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work effectively in a multicultural and fast-paced environment.
- Good spoken English and Chinese, with strong written English communication skills.
- Willingness to travel when required.
