Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create a fuel consumption budget, and monitor, collect, and analyze fuel consumption data for the fleet.
  • Examine and evaluate the connections between schedule, speed, and fuel consumption, and establish and adjust fuel consumption indicators for sea miles and voyages.
  • Monitor, collect, and analyze the monthly fuel consumption per sea mile and the total fuel usage for round-trip voyages of vessels.
  • Develop and implement plans for quantity inspections and oily water discharge, and oversee their execution.
  • Gain an understanding of onboard fuel and lubricant management, investigate causes of excessive fuel consumption during voyages, and provide feedback on quantity inspection outcomes.
  • Ensure the proper sealing of vessels during fueling and oily water discharge operations, and monitor their compliance.
  • Organize and conduct targeted inspections and monitoring for vessels with abnormal fuel consumption, issues identified during quantity inspections, or problems during oily water discharge.
  • Hold pre-boarding discussions with the captain and chief engineer, outlining route conditions, clarifying voyage fuel consumption targets, and advising vessels on speed reduction for energy efficiency.
  • Evaluate and assess fuel consumption, oily water discharge, and seal management for both owned and chartered vessels.
  • Review fueling documents and inspection reports for fuel and lubricants in case of disputes or quality concerns regarding fuel quantities, provide feedback to the appropriate departments for resolution and ensure follow-up, maintaining proper records.

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: An associate degree or higher in a relevant discipline.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years experience in fuel, lubricants, or engine management for vessels.
  • Knowledge/Certifications: Familiarity with marine engines, navigation, and fuel/lubricant management.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal communication, organizational, and writing skills, speaking proficiency, and solid computer skills.
