Responsibilities
1. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate occupational therapy and related service delivery to residents.
2. Maintain accurate documentation of therapy service as required by the Company's quality procedures and guidelines
3. Participate and conduct orientation and in-service education and training programmes and supervise staff under his / her charge as required.
4. Participate in any and all activities related to the smooth running of department.
Areas of Accountability
1. Clinical
1.1. Assess and identify individual needs of residents and formulate/ develop and implement appropriate individualized occupational therapy programs to facilitate, restore, improve or maintain functional abilities.
1.2. Evaluate and document residents occupational therapy needs and progress at regular
intervals, monitor training programs and review their effectiveness.
1.3. Constantly update about residents progress to care-givers and all those involved in the rehabilitation team.
1.4. Provide care-giver training in resident handling and home exercise program.
1.5. Refer residents to the respective specialists for consultation and appropriate
Intervention.
1.6. Evaluate and prescribe appropriate rehabilitation aids as required by residents.
1.7. Provide consultation and support to care-givers and allied health professional regarding resident's functional status and occupational therapy related matters.
1.8. Provide consultation to other rehabilitation team on resident handling or matters regarding musculoskeletal injury.
Administrative and Management Practice
2.1. Maintain efficient records of clientele and proper documentation.
2.2. Engage in administrative duties relevant to departmental work and responsibility as duly delegated e.g. resident billing, maintain workload statistics, maintain resident education corner, maintain occupational therapy resources, maintain filing, maintain general cleanliness of department, maintain pantry food and beverage and other duties as delegated by senior staff.
2.3. Maintain all therapy equipment by regular servicing and replace / repair when deemed
Necessary.
2.4. Keep proper inventory of all equipment and fixtures with regular updating.
2.5. Keep proper inventory of sales product regularly.
3. Staff Development / Education
3.1. Keep abreast with latest development in occupational therapy related areas by reading
journals and surf the website.
3.2. Attend courses on occupational therapy related areas.
3.3. Participate in research projects.
3.4. Conduct in-service on occupational therapy related areas for peers.
3.5. Provide clinical education and supervision for occupational therapy student and allied health trainee on attachment.
4.Occupational Health and Safety
4.1. Maintain safe work practices and ensure a safe working environment which meets
required standards.
4.2. Familiar with all aspects of the nursing home emergency and evacuation procedures and guidelines
5. Quality Assurance
5.1. Participate in departmental quality procedures and guidelines and policy reviews when
required. E.g new ideas to improve clinical services, operation or administrative procedures, patient education pamphlets, education corner ornew services, etc.
5.2. Ensure compliance to the Company's quality procedures, guidelines and policy.
5.3. Monitor and report on non-compliance and implement necessary changes resulting from quality assurance findings in consultation with the Rehab Manager / DIC.
Highest Education Level:Diploma / Bachelor of Occupational therapy
Years working experience:Minimum 4 yrs of local clinical experience in Singapore
Any professional License required:Full / Restricted Registration (AHPC - Singapore)
Any other knowledge required: Soft skills (Ms word / Excel (basics) , Good communication skills
