Since1958, St John's Home for Elderly Persons has served as a reputable Sheltered Home for seniors under the Ministry of Social and Family Affairs (MSF). As we prepare to transition into a Nursing Home under the Ministry of Health (MOH) by2026, we invite dedicated persons to join our team as Senior / Nursing Aides. Successful candidates will play an integral role in shaping the direction of our Nursing services, delivering quality care to our residents and their families across both Nursing Home and Centre-based settings.
Key Responsibilities
The Nursing Aide supports Registered Nurses (RN) and Enrolled Nurses (EN) in the delivery of nursing care to residents and assists in maintaining a clean, safe and comfortable environment within the nursing home.
- Comply with approved standards, policies, and procedures of nursing practice
- Participate in quality improvement activities to enhance residents care and safety
- Attend to residents needs, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being and report any changes in condition to nurses promptly
- Measure, monitor, and accurately record residents vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure
- Assist residents with personal hygiene and comfort needs, including bed baths, showering, grooming, changing of clothes and bed linen, and ensuring residents are kept clean and dry
- Support the transfer, positioning, and mobility of non-ambulant or dependent residents
- Assist in conducting daily exercises and mobility activities for residents as instructed
- Assist nurses in ensuring residents take their prescribed medications safely
- Assist with meal services, including serving food and drinks and feeding residents when required
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation of care provided.
- Assist nurses with nursing care activities, including care of residents with urinary catheters and other basic clinical procedures as delegated
- Support the admission process and orientation of new residents
- Accompany residents to hospitals, polyclinics, and external appointments or outing activities when required
- Recognize and promptly report emergency situations, and where necessary, take appropriate first responder actions within scope of training
- Work collaboratively with nurses and other staff to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by Nurses, Senior / Nurse Clinician, Director of Nursing (DON), or Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
