Senior / Medical Laboratory Scientist (Diagnostic Bacteriology)

Job Description

You will be part of the clinical microbiology lab in SGH which plays a key role in the laboratory diagnosis of infectious diseases.

The successful candidate will play a key role in evaluating and implementing new assays and methods, contributing to the advancement of diagnostic and research capabilities.

This position requires expertise in both molecular and microbiological techniques, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic laboratory environment.

You will mentor and coach junior staff. You will also assist in establishing, implementing and updating departmental policies and procedures. There are also opportunities to liaise with other collaborators for clinical research.

Requirements:

PhD in a relevant discipline (biomedical science, bioinformatics, computational biology, data science or related field)

Masters in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience

Degree in Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Medical Technology or equivalent with minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience

Good command of English, communications and interpersonal skills are important, able to work effectively as a team player

Experience in wet lab and bioinformatics analysis of human/microbial genomes, metagenomics will be advantageous

Knowledge in high performance computing (HPC) and cloud computing

Able to work in a BSL-3 laboratory
