Job Description

Responsibilities of Senior Market Risk Manager (Credit Trading) - Leading Financial Institution

  • Provide independent market risk oversight for credit trading and capital markets activities.
  • Monitor risk exposures across trading portfolios, ensuring adherence to internal risk appetite and governance frameworks.
  • Partner closely with traders and business stakeholders to understand portfolio positioning, trading strategies, and emerging risks.
  • Conduct risk assessments on new products, transactions, and business initiatives, including analysis of potential impacts on risk metrics and profitability.
  • Review and analyse daily risk and profit & loss reports, identifying key drivers and escalating material developments where required.
  • Support the implementation and enhancement of risk measurement methodologies, controls, and reporting processes.
  • Work alongside regional and global risk teams to ensure consistency of risk management practices across locations.
  • Contribute to regulatory, infrastructure, and business-driven projects impacting market risk management.
  • Provide analytical support on portfolio risk, stress scenarios, limit utilisation, and ad hoc management requests.
  • Maintain awareness of market developments and industry trends that may affect trading activities and risk profiles.

Requirements of Senior Market Risk Manager (Credit Trading) - Leading Financial Institution

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience within Market Risk, Product Control, Trading Risk Management, or a related risk function within a banking or capital markets environment.
  • Strong understanding of fixed income and credit products, with practical exposure to traded risk management.
  • Experience covering products such as bonds, repos, securities financing transactions, credit derivatives, structured credit instruments, interest rate products, and foreign exchange markets.
  • Solid knowledge of market risk concepts including VaR, stress testing, sensitivity-based measures, scenario analysis, and risk limit frameworks.
  • Ability to effectively challenge, influence, and engage with front office stakeholders.
  • Experience working within a global financial institution and interacting with cross-border teams.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex market and portfolio information.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of operating in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or another quantitative discipline.
