Role Summary
The Solution Architect (SA) in Tax Technology & Transformation plays a critical role in designing, shaping, and delivering technology-enabled tax solutions for large enterprises. The SA works at the intersection of tax, finance, and digital architecture, ensuring that technology designs meet regulatory requirements, align with enterprise architecture, and support scalable transformation across indirect tax, direct tax, global compliance, and reporting domains.
Key Responsibilities
1. Solution Design & Architecture
- Lead endtoend architecture design for tax technology solutions across ERP, einvoicing, compliance, reporting, and data platforms.
- Define solution blueprints including application, integration, and data architecture.
- Ensure alignment with corporate architecture standards, cloud governance, and cybersecurity frameworks.
- Translate tax functional requirements into scalable, secure, and configurable technical designs.
2. Regulatory & Functional Alignment
- Embed taxspecific regulatory requirements (e.g., einvoicing, CTCs, SAFT, GST/VAT reporting) into the solution design.
- Work closely with tax SMEs to ensure system configuration and data flows meet compliance obligations in Singapore and applicable global jurisdictions.
3. Enterprise Systems Integration
- Architect integrations between ERP systems (SAP S/4HANA, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics), tax engines (ONESOURCE, Vertex), data platforms, and workflow tools.
- Oversee API designs, message transformation, and data orchestration, including PEPPOL/CTC connectivity where required.
- Provide design oversight for intercompany, crossborder, and multi-entity tax processes.
4. Delivery Leadership & Governance
- Support project teams through design authority, technical decision-making, and solution governance.
- Review vendor/implementation partner designs to ensure alignment with target architecture and regulatory needs.
- Conduct solution assurance across configuration, integrations, testing, and cutover.
5. Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with Tax, Finance, IT, Risk, and Operations leaders to shape solution roadmaps.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to senior non-technical stakeholders in a clear, businessoriented manner.
- Advise clients on modernisation options, COTS vs custom build decisions, and transformation paths.
6. Emerging Technology & Innovation
- Evaluate new regulatory technology (RegTech), automation, analytics, and AI capabilities for applicability to tax.
- Influence digital tax strategy including data standardisation, workflow orchestration, and compliance digitisation (e.g., einvoicing, CTC frameworks).
Key Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- Strong architecture experience spanning application, data, and integration layers.
- Handson experience with major ERPs (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics), tax engines, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and modern data architectures.
- Knowledge of einvoicing/PEPPOL, ereporting, CTC architectures, or tax data models is highly advantageous.
Functional & Regulatory Knowledge
- Understanding of corporate tax processes (indirect tax, direct tax, statutory reporting, transfer pricing).
- Experience with global or regional tax compliance regimes (e.g., GST/VAT digital reporting, SAFT, CTC mandates).
- Ability to translate tax technical requirements into solution and data designs.
Leadership & Consulting Skills
- Strong experience in crossfunctional delivery leadership.
- Excellent communication and design documentation skills.
- Able to influence senior stakeholders and advise on strategic technology decisions.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with emphasis on scalability, performance, and regulatory compliance.
Experience Requirements
- 8-15 years in enterprise or solution architecture, ideally within finance or tax transformation contexts.
- Experience in large-scale digital transformation, ERP programmes, or tax technology implementations.
- Consulting or multiindustry experience preferred.
