What You Will Be Working On
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Innovation Hub, the job holder will be responsible for the following: (including but not limited to):
Digital Transformation & Innovation
- Assess the relevance and risk of emerging technologies and digital trends to VITAL's transformation roadmap.
- Uncover use cases and opportunities for which AI and digital technology can be applied
- Identify, evaluate and implement AI and digital solutions that improve productivity, service delivery and operational efficiency in VITAL
- Lead proof-of-concepts (POCs) and pilot projects, evaluate outcomes, and scale successful initiatives for implementation or broader organisational adoption.
Digital and AI Strategy and Governance - Lead the development, review and execution of VITAL's Digital and AI strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and whole-of-government digital initiatives.
- Establish, review and maintain governance frameworks for digital and AI initiatives, ensuring compliance with relevant policies, standards and risk management requirements.
- Track and report on the progress of digital and AI initiatives, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
Change Management & Stakeholder Engagement - Design initiatives and drive change management efforts to support the sustainable adoption of digital and AI initiatives, including communications, engagement and training plans.
- Engage technology partners and vendors to evaluate tool efficacy, manage relationships and support the delivery of digital initiatives.
- Co-develop learning pathways and coherent progression with VITAL's HR Development team, covering foundational to advanced digital and AI competencies.
Project & Change Management - Lead and manage cross‑functional digital initiatives, partnering internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure delivery within scope while managing risks, resources, and stakeholder expectations.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and business functions to understand operational challenges, co-create digital solutions, and ensure successful implementation.
- Support capability building by sharing best practices, solution patterns, and lessons learnt across internal teams and agency users.
Other Duties - Undertake ad‑hoc projects or tasks assigned by supervisors in support of Innovation Hub and organisational priorities.
What We Are Looking For
- Degree in Business with IT, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline is preferred
- Candidates with a relevant degree but demonstrated competence and practical experience in digital transformation and/or AI adoption are also welcome.
- At least 3 years of experience planning and implementing digital transformation, AI strategy, or capability-building initiatives, preferably within the Public Sector or an enterprise environment.
- Conversant with AI tools and platforms, digital productivity tools, and solutions such as Microsoft Copilot, UiPath, Power Platform, or equivalent.
- Experience in designing and delivering digital capability-building programmes or learning initiatives for non-technical audiences.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex digital and AI concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities for digital innovation and translate them into actionable solutions.
