Our client, a global lgistics company, is looking for an experienced Ocean Freight professional to join its Global Ocean team.
This role is responsible for driving volume growth, yield improvement, carrier engagement, pricing support and trade development across an assigned global ocean trade portfolio. You will work closely with country organizations, commercial teams, strategic customers and ocean carriers to strengthen trade competitiveness and deliver sustainable, profitable growth.
The role also includes leadership responsibility for assigned Trade Managers, Specialists and/or Analysts.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the commercial performance and development of assigned global ocean trades
- Develop and execute trade development plans aligned with the global Ocean Freight growth strategy
- Drive sustainable volume growth, GP improvement and trade competitiveness
- Support country teams in developing local trade plans, target accounts and growth initiatives
- Identify emerging trade flows, market opportunities and high-growth customer segments
- Manage ocean carrier relationships and procurement activities across assigned trades
- Support carrier negotiations, rate discussions, capacity planning and service commitments
- Drive yield improvement initiatives across assigned trade lanes
- Provide pricing guidance for major RFQs, tenders and strategic customer opportunities
- Provide market intelligence on rates, capacity, demand and carrier developments
- Lead, coach and develop assigned Trade Managers, Specialists and/or Analysts
- Collaborate across country, regional and global teams to drive trade performance
About You
- Significant experience in Ocean Freight, Trade Management, Carrier Management, Pricing or Commercial Management
- Strong understanding of global ocean freight markets, carrier dynamics and trade lane development
- Proven track record in driving volume growth, yield improvement and trade profitability
- Strong carrier negotiation and relationship management experience
- Good commercial acumen with strong analytical and pricing capabilities
- Experience managing or coaching teams in a regional or international environment
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Comfortable working across countries and functions within a global matrix organization
