Job Description

Senior Manager – Global Bunker Procurement & Strategy

Singapore | Shipping & Marine Fuels | Retained Search

One of Southeast Asia's largest home-grown container carriers is looking for a senior marine fuels professional to take ownership of its global bunker procurement and supply strategy. This is a strategic, fleet-wide mandate — covering conventional fuels, LNG, and lubricants — for someone ready to move beyond day-to-day trading into a role shaping cost, supply security, and vendor strategy across a 100-vessel fleet operating in 90+ countries.

The Role

You will own the global procurement strategy for marine fuels and lubricants across the operated fleet, balancing cost optimisation against supply reliability and compliance. This is a senior, cross-functional mandate working closely with Operations, Fleet, Sustainability, and Finance — with direct visibility to senior management on market trends, risk, and procurement performance.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and drive global fuel and lubricant procurement strategy for the fleet, ensuring secure, compliant, 24/7 supply
  • Monitor global bunker and lubricant markets to inform strategic decisions
  • Identify alternative bunker ports to strengthen supply chain resilience
  • Manage term agreement volume allocation across vessels
  • Negotiate commercial terms and contracts with fuel suppliers and service providers
  • Build and sustain long-term vendor and stakeholder relationships
  • Ensure compliance with IMO and regional environmental regulations
  • Report to senior leadership on procurement performance, risk, and market trends

What We Are Looking For

  • 8+ years experience in marine fuels, bunkering, or related shipping/energy sectors
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record in global fleet fuel procurement and vendor negotiation
  • Deep understanding of bunker markets, supply chain dynamics, and the decarbonisation/regulatory landscape
  • Degree in Maritime Studies, Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field
  • Strong stakeholder management and the ability to translate market complexity into clear, data-driven recommendations for senior leadership
