RESPONSIBILITIES
- Professional Development for Postgraduate by Research (PGR) Students
- Oversee the design, enhancement and delivery of the Graduate Research Professional Development (GRPD) framework to strengthen the skills, teaching capability and career readiness of PhD and Master by Research (MbR) students.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Centre for Teaching Excellence, Centre for English Communication, SMU Libraries, Mrs Wong Kwok Leong Student Wellness Centre, Dato Kho Hui Meng Career Centre) and external instructors to deliver interdisciplinary seminars, workshops and short courses.
- Oversee the development of a dashboard to facilitate GRPD tracking and reporting.
- College Events
- Lead the annual Singapore Rising Scholars Conference (SRSC) and other key CGRS events such as the Onboarding & Orientation, Annual Kick-off & Awards Ceremony, Graduation Lunch, etc.
- Oversee the end-to-end event execution, including sponsorship, partnerships and stakeholder coordination to ensure impactful outcomes and brand visibility.
- Student & Alumni Engagement
- Drive cohort building and engagement activities to strength the PGR student community life through close partnership with the Graduate Research Students Society (GRSS).
- Cultivate and foster lifelong ties with SMU PGR alumni to promote brand ambassadorship in collaboration with the Office of Alumni Relations and the Graduate Research Alumni Chapter (GRAC).
- Mentor junior staff in delivering student and alumni activities.
- Prinsep Street Residences (PSR)
- Oversee the allocation of hostel spaces and student support at the PSR for postgraduate students, ensuring a supportive living-learning community.
- Collaborate with the CGRS Faculty Fellow and Resident Seniors to deliver welfare support, onboarding and community activities.
- Partner with the SMU Housing Office and other stakeholders to enhance residents experience in PSR.
- Mentor junior staff supporting housing administration.
- Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Lead and mentor a team of professional staff, developing capabilities and fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
- Identify and implement process improvements that will increase productivity and drive consistency, in collaboration with the Office of Business Improvement and schools/offices.
- Oversee and coordinate inter-university initiatives such as the Singapore Universities Student Exchange Programme (SUSEP) for PhD and the Visiting Graduate Student Programme (VGSP).
- Support cross functions initiatives/activities at CGRS and other duties assigned by the Dean of CGRS from time to time.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 to 10 years of relevant work experience.
- Prior experience and understanding of the tertiary education landscape would be an advantage.
- Experience in organising student activities and events management would be essential.
- Effectively bilingual, with a strong command of English and Mandarin.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills.
- Resourceful, independent and a team player in a cross-functional environment, with strong collaborative and influencing skills to enable collaboration with postgraduate students and faculty members.
- Possess analytical abilities and desire to drive initiatives and projects, works well under pressure, able to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
- Able to design event marketing collaterals using design application (Canva).
- Proficiency in event management and analytic tools would be an advantage.
