Senior Manager, Cargo Space Management

We are looking for an experienced Senior Manager, Cargo Space Management for a global shipping company. This role will lead the vessel's cargo space planning and utilization, driving cargo planning, forecasting, and commercial optimization while working closely with regional marketing, sales, and operations teams. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in container shipping, with strong expertise in space control, cargo planning, or trade management.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute space planning and cargo allocation strategies to optimize vessel utilization and commercial performance.
• Monitor vessel capacity and make timely decisions to maximize cargo intake while minimizing operational disruptions and costs.
• Work closely with commercial, sales, and operations teams to balance customer demand with operational constraints.
• Manage cargo mix, customer allocations, and booking priorities to optimize profitability.
• Review cargo forecasts and capacity outlook, driving proactive planning and adjustments where required.
• Coordinate with regional teams to ensure consistent execution of space planning strategies and governance.
• Lead and mentor the Space Control team, driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
• Analyze market trends, customer booking patterns, and operational data to support strategic decision-making.
• Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, system utilization, and customer experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in container shipping, with strong exposure to space control, cargo planning, trade management, or network planning.
• Strong understanding of container shipping operations, including capacity planning, forecasting, vessel utilization, and operational constraints.
• Proven experience collaborating with commercial, sales, operations, and regional stakeholders.
• Experience leading teams in a regional or global environment.
• Strong analytical skills with experience using business intelligence or data visualization tools.
• Commercially minded with the ability to balance operational efficiency and revenue optimization.
• Proactive, adaptable, and driven to improve processes and operational performance.
