Role Overview
You will be joining the firm at an exciting time when there is a great deal of strategic focus and ambitionwithin the BD function and wider firm. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter, a persuasive and assertive team player with a strong background in professional services marketing, business development and comms and extensive experience working at an international firm.
- This role focuses on driving growth in the Singapore office - with responsibility for defining and delivering group business development strategies, ensuring implementation is strategically aligned, client focusedand highly effective. Cross-border experience is essential.
- With support from the Senior BD Executive, the successful candidate will combine day-to-day support for Singapore-based Partners and collaboration with the wider partnership, colleagues in our other offices and BCM team on broader BD initiatives. Experience partnering with international teams across multiplejurisdictions to align deliverables, share best practice and maintain consistent standards is strongly preferred.
- Driving all aspects of planning and development of business development activity and the targeting of marketing activity, the Senior Business Development Manager will enjoy a broad role developing and implementing annual business plans, budgets and campaign plans and overseeing BD and marketing activity, structured client development, and producing bespoke bids in pursuit of profitable revenue growth from RPC's Singapore office.
- The role holder will lead on profile raising initiatives, including events, marketing communications, multichannel campaigns, in addition to overseeing adherence to the firm's brand, external positioning and relevant award and directory submissions (ownership of Singapore and contributing to Global submissions).
- Acting as both the BD lead, subject matter expert and ambassador for the Singapore practice with the wider business and other key stakeholders - establishing a close and effective relationship with lawyers and business services colleagues across all offices, contributing to and leading on best practice. Ensuring that Partners and other fee earners are directed towards, and supported in, the delivery of their strategic BD, marketing and brand objectives.
- Strong English communication skills are essential (verbal and written). This role will work in conjunction with the Singapore/ Asia management team to help deliver the broader management priorities and internal and external comms exercises, as well as collaborating with colleagues in other RPC offices. A strong grasp of international stakeholder dynamics and local market nuances is essential -the candidate should have a proven track record of translating business and client priorities into clear, locally relevant communications that support commercial objectives.

Business and Client Development
Business development
- Working with the International Head of BD and the Singapore/ Asia group leads to design and deliver a long-term overarching marketing and business development strategy for the office and region (working collaboratively with the HK team), which reflects and supports all elements of RPC's firmwide strategy to achieve sustainable profitable growth. Focus on utilising available resources, delivering the best return on investments and maximising cross-marketing opportunities.
- Design and execute annual and long-term marketing and business development plans - coupled with financial, BD and resourcing targets - which support the group strategies and help achieve their stated long-term business objectives.
- Assess commercial BD opportunities (and risks) through market research and analysis.
- Collaborate with BCM broader team - focus on information sharing to realise strategic benefits of working across the disciplines and offices and encourage an integrated approach to the delivery of strategic priorities. Experience of leading or contributing to crossoffice matters is a strong advantage.
Key account management
- Work alongside relevant Partners and Client Development colleagues, to support and drive Singapore integration in the international key account programmes, help to maintain best practice CRM and ensuring that resources are aligned accordingly.
- Help institutionalise high quality relationship management and cross-selling disciplines through collaboration within the firm's client development programme, with the ultimate objective of opening out and driving revenue growth from existing clients of the firm.
- Work alongside the client listening team to help facilitate and leverage insights from the firm's client listening programme to drive a culture of client service excellence at both an individual client and group level.
- Prepare Partners for effective relationship and business development meetings with clients and targets including client/target research and presentation/marketing collateral support. Advise, coach andmotivate client teams, and assist in identifying business development opportunities.
Bid management
- Expertly create compelling copy, draft high-quality English content and lead the delivery of bids, proposals, clientpresentations and capability statements for the Singapore office - and support the Hong Kong on major RFPs as required. Experience shaping and executing copy in an international context - balancing global consistency with local resonance and compliance, across multiple jurisdictions - is essential.
- Act as a champion for best practice bid management - working closely with the Senior Proposals Manager, lawyers and broader BCM team as appropriate.
- Improve and continuously refine standard content and materials to support the bid process.
Proposition building and positioning
- Work with our regional PR firm, internal PR team, our HK (Senior) BD Manager and Head of International BD, to help set the regional PR strategy - communicating key strategic messages agreed locally and at a global level.
- In collaboration with the BCM team, design and execute strategies to ensure the propositions are clearly articulated and communicated across all channels (digital platforms, capability statements, proposals, legal directories etc), and with maximum impact. The candidate should have an ability to anticipate and address crosscultural considerations in communications planning, ensuring messages land appropriately and effectively locally.
- Work with relevant lawyers and the BCM teams in Asia and the UK to deliver plans which build brand awareness, understanding and engagement in the external marketplace for the Singapore teams - and the broader Asia practice - for clients, targets, recruits and other key audiences.
Marketing and brand
- Agree and oversee delivery of the annual calendar of Singapore BCM activities and budget (in conjunction with Hong Kong and the UK where appropriate) - prioritising how resources are best deployed to achieve strategic business objectives as per BD and marketing plans.
- Lead the strategic planning, execution, and evaluation of high-profile client hospitality events and client knowledgeprogrammes in Singapore. Drive collaboration to enhance market visibility, strengthen client relationships, and elevate the firm's profile in key sectors and service areas.
- Oversee the collation, preparation, review and submission of strategically agreed legal directory and award submissions for Singapore (and support Global submissions). Draft persuasive (English) copy to enhancethe firm rankings and reputation through clear articulation of strengths. Drive communication of the results (internally and externally).
- Oversee the drafting and development of new (English) collateral content to market areas of strategic focus for Singapore (and the broader Asia practice as required). The candidate will also be required to coordinatewith BCM teams and Partners, across all offices, to deliver integrated campaigns with measurable impact across all our international markets.
- Provide strategic advice and guidance to lawyers on how to raise profile, awareness and market reputation to key buyer groups. Collaborate with BCM colleagues to ensure Singapore/ Asia marketing initiatives dovetail with and complement firmwide, sector and practice marketing and brand-building activities.
- Establish and monitor an approach to measure return on investment on marketing and business development activities.
- Help drive engagement with internal communication (firmwide) - to enhance collaborative behaviours andcross-selling opportunities - with particular focus on sector activities, key accounts and any other relevant market/ internal intel.
- Support the local roll out/ delivery of global marketing, comms and brand initiatives/ campaigns. An ability to navigate the international nature of our business - aligning messaging - and delivering coherent crossborder narratives is essential.
Budgeting
- Take the lead role in preparing (and reviewing) the annual BCM budget for Singapore practice groups and brand & marketing and business development activity - ensuring they are aligned to the firm and practice's priorities and deliver value for money.
- Review monthly expenditure against budget, ensuring value-driven cost control.
- Approve travel plans and budget requests for BD travel to ensure alignment and compliance with both group BD plans and the firm's corporate travel policy.
Knowledge and training
- Act as a coach, role model and mentor toward direct reports - the Singapore based Senior BD Executive - providing constructive guidance, support, encouragement, feedback, communication and a commitment to their development and progress.
- Help Partners and Associates become more effective in their BD efforts through coaching and skill-building.
Practice management and operational support
- As a part of the Asia leadership team, you will need to provide oversight and comms support in operational strategic priorities and ad hoc projects for the Singapore office (and support HK if required). The candidate will work in conjunction with the Singapore/Asia management team, the (UK based) Director of Global Operations and Head of Engagement to help to deliver agendas, content and comms for Asia management priorities and internal comms exercises including (but not limited to): Asia Partners Meetings (if applicable) Asia strategy updates Asia Town Halls, new Partner comms, firmwide project rollouts.
- Working with the UK based Director of Global Operations, play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between central business services team and key stakeholders in Asia. The position will be responsible for cultivating collaborative relationships, facilitating clear communication, and ensuring mutual understanding of regional priorities and challenges.
- Work in conjunction with the Singapore Office Lead, (and the UK comms team and our PR firm) and provide leadership and guidance on PR/ internal comms on key messaging including crisis management situations.
- Support local staff across a variety of business services functions in our Singapore/ Asia offices (as required) to provide (English) drafting, editing and coordination support across a range of their priorities - including, but not limited to, internal engagement initiatives, ESG (including DEIB) initiatives, brand alignment on recruitment materials, BD professional skills and internal communications / briefing notes - ensuring an inclusive, consistent, and firmwide approach across all activities.
- From time to time, represent Singapore/ the Asia region on a variety of different global working groups and support cross-functional and office priority projects, process improvements, and integration of global initiatives at the local level. Experience collaborating with crossfunctional teams across multiple jurisdictions, including planning across time zones and adapting to local market nuances, will be highly valued.
- Manage and oversee the Singapore office social calendar, coordinating both local resources and senior stakeholders to deliver regular, meaningful social events that bring the office together in support of our be the best firm to work for ethos.
- Ensure a reasonable and general knowledge of the working practices and functions of the Singaporeoffice - as well as the specific roles and responsibilities of the business support teams - and take the lead in other functional areas when required (in respect of presentations / communications to the Asia Partners and UK management team). To include acting as a local change champion to embed new systems, processes, technologies, initiatives etc where local champions are needed.

Knowledge, skills and experience
- A deep understanding and demonstrable experience of business-to-business marketing, business development and relationship management within professional services.
- Experience working in professional services an advantage.
- Experience of working at an international firm, within Asian markets, is highly desirable - ideally gained in a non-HQ office where broader responsibilities are often required to support an office's operational development.
- Exposure to broader operations, general office activities, or special projects would be beneficial but not essential.
- Strong English communication and drafting skills are essential (verbal and written).
- Good time management, attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong operational and project management skills.
- Shows initiative, is a self-starter and has the ability and confidence to run with things.
- Stature and gravitas - professional, credible, impactful and confident with persuading and influencing where appropriate.
