Key Accountabilities
Legal Advisory Across the Asset Management Business
- Provide pragmatic legal advice across key business areas including portfolio management, trading,
- investment operations, fund distribution, corporate functions, supporting both ongoing activities and
- time-critical transactions, including cornerstone and investment opportunities, counterparty
- onboarding and execution readiness, working closely with front-office, operations and compliance
- teams to facilitate timely decision-making.
Drafting and Negotiation
Lead the drafting, review and negotiation of a wide range of agreements, including:
- Fund-related and investment documentation
- Distribution and investment management agreements with institutional and Prudential life company clients
- NDAs, co-investment agreements and transaction-specific documentation
- Vendor, technology, data and IT-related contracts
- Other general corporate and commercial agreements
Exercise sound legal and commercial judgment in identifying key risk areas, determining negotiation positions, and providing clear recommendations and legal sign-off to business stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement
Build strong, effective partnerships with stakeholders across Compliance, Risk, Operations, HR, Technology and business teams, positioning Legal as a solution-oriented partner
- Serve as an effective conduit with Prudential Group Legal and the wider Eastspring network, ensuring that group policies, governance requirements and approvals are appropriately implemented and embedded across the organisation.
Projects And Stretch Responsibilities
Take on stretch responsibilities beyond day-to-day legal matters, including representing the Legal function on key projects and transformational initiatives across Eastspring. This includes:
- Representing Legal on cross-functional initiatives involving technology platforms, outsourced service providers, custodians, data and middle-office transformations, and other strategic programmes
- Supporting process changes and operating-model improvements, working closely with various business contract owners to refine legal intake, escalation logic and contract review workflows
- Translating legal and policy requirements into clear, operational guidance that can be adopted by non-legal stakeholders
- Provide senior-level legal support on complex, sensitive or high-visibility matters that require cross-functional coordination, judgment and engagement with management.
Experience / Qualifications
- 5 years experience in legal and financial markets.
- Experience with general commercial or asset management agreements (e.g. NDAs, onboarding, investor documentation) preferred.
- Demonstrated hands-on use of AI and legal technology tools to support contract review, risk
- identification and process efficiency, or a clear capability and interest in developing such skills.
- Buy-side in-house experience advantageous but not essential.
- Strong academic background with a solid analytical and investigative mindset.

- Clear, confident and concise communicator, able to distil issues for senior stakeholders and comfortable engaging with clients and counterparties.
- Highly organised and resilient, able to operate in a high-pressure, high-expectation environment.
- Comfortable managing multiple workstreams and tight deadlines.
- Confident working with data, trackers and reporting tools.
- Technologically adept with strong applied use of AI tools, including the ability to leverage AI for contract review, risk identification, clause benchmarking and workflow efficiency.
