Cana Consulting is partnering a fast-growing, technology-driven company with a strong regional presence across Asia-Pacific. We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel with proven leadership and management capabilities. The Senior Legal Counsel will work closely with senior management and key business stakeholders, providing strategic and commercial legal advice while helping to shape legal processes, governance standards, and team capability.
Role:
- Provide strategic legal support to senior management and business leaders across the group
- Lead and oversee a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including complex customer, vendor, and partnership agreements
- Advise on go-to-market strategies, new product launches, and regional expansion initiatives, including legal risk assessment
- Provide legal guidance on data protection and privacy matters, including review of data-related commercial arrangements, data sharing structures, and cross-border data transfers
- Partner with business, product, and technology teams on privacy considerations in product development and deployment
- Support and enhance corporate governance, internal controls, and legal processes
- Manage cross-border legal matters and coordinate with external counsel across multiple jurisdictions
- Work closely with Compliance and Regulatory teams on regulatory matters, licensing considerations, and risk management (where applicable)
- Take a leadership role in mentoring and guiding junior legal team members
- Support ad-hoc strategic projects, including M&A, investments, restructurings, and major commercial initiatives
- Drive continuous improvement of legal templates, policies, and workflows to support a scaling business
Requirements
- 1015 years PQE, with strong training in corporate and commercial law
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience, including mentoring or managing legal professionals
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice
- Working knowledge of data protection and privacy frameworks relevant to the region (e.g. PDPA, GDPR or equivalent), particularly in a commercial or product context
- Experience supporting product-driven, technology-enabled, or fast-growth businesses is preferred
- Solid understanding of go-to-market strategies and product launches
- Comfortable handling cross-border matters and managing external counsel
- Experience working alongside Compliance and Regulatory teams on regulatory or licensing matters
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills and regional exposure
- Prior in-house experience in a regional or international environment is highly desirable
