Responsibilities
- Advise on a broad range of legal and commercial matters in the areas of cloud services, AI, technology licensing, open source software, and export control compliance
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex software license agreements, cloud services, cloud infrastructure and channel distribution agreements, and other general commercial agreements
- Collaborate with external counsels and other Tencent attorneys based around the world, including in mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, EU, and the US, to provide compliance and regulatory analysis and advice for international business initiatives
- Identify potential legal issues and risks, compliance gaps and help business teams navigate through legal and regulatory compliance to devise creative solutions for business teams to mitigate risks
- Develop, implement and monitor our internal compliance policies, knowledge management, and processes to address compliance issues and provide actionable solutions, ensuring alignment with international regulatory standards
- Develop online training materials and conduct training to educate business stakeholders and product teams on evolving laws, regulations and compliance standards
- Advise management on implications of legal and regulatory updates
Requirements
- You have five or more years of experience working in a law firm or in-house legal department, in the areas of technology, online platforms and cloud services, software developers or similar industry sectors
- You have strong academic credentials and are a member of a relevant Bar or you possess other recognized professional qualifications or equivalent membership. A second degree in Computer science, engineering or similar subject is an advantage
- You have a track record of making sound business judgment and the ability to deliver practical, commercially friendly and comprehensive advice
- You are detail oriented, and have extensive experience with legal compliance, commercial, IP and licensing transactions in cloud computing, AI, technology development and bespoke tech projects
- You are proactive, a good team player and can establish strong working relationships with business stakeholders
- You have the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment and can independently manage day-to-day compliance work and handle end-to-end transaction process from initial contract review through to negotiations and execution
- You have excellent communication skills (written and oral) in Mandarin Chinese and English to cooperate with international stakeholders and stakeholders who are based in HQ
