Responsibilities
CNA is recruiting several experienced journalists/analysts to join our new Digital Verification team, which will drive the newsroom's investigations into mis- and disinformation campaigns in Singapore and beyond.
This role reports to the Senior Editor for Digital Verification.
Candidates looking to be part of this team should have a diverse set of skills, ranging from OSINT research and data analysis to familiarity with cutting-edge AI tools. More importantly, they must have a passion for translating complex findings into clear, accessible articles or videos for a general audience.
Familiarity with local and regional political developments, as well as fluency in at least one non-English language would be considered a plus.
Applicants will be required to take a written test to assess their suitability for this team.
Responsibilities
- Monitor & Investigate: Identify and track the spread of mis/disinformation on topics of interest across digital and social media platforms in Singapore and beyond.
- Analyse & Identify: Leverage OSINT, data analysis and AI to augment journalistic investigation of tactics and narratives behind mis/disinformation campaigns and influence operations.
- Publish & Present: Develop clear, concise stories and videos that explain the tactics and objectives behind potential disinformation campaigns to a general audience.
Qualifications
- Experience: At least two years of experience in journalism, or as an analyst in verification units or equivalent outfits.
- Analysis skills: Strong, data-driven analytical and research skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Technical expertise: Familiar with OSINT, basic data analysis, and AI-powered research tools.
- Social media acumen: Familiar with major social media platforms, and user behavior in this part of the world.
- Communication skills: Excellent command of written and spoken English, and proven experience in telling factual stories in interesting and compelling ways. Fluent in at least one non-English language (e.g. Malay, Bahasa Indonesia, or Mandarin-Chinese).
