Job Description

The Senior IT Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for the stability, security, availability, and performance of the organization's IT infrastructure. This role manages day-to-day infrastructure operations, provides hands-on technical support, leads troubleshooting and change activities, and offers technical guidance to engineers while supporting infrastructure projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

This position will require someone who is able to operate across four infrastructure domains: Network, System Servers, Security, Cloud.

Job Responsibilities

Infrastructure Operations

  • Manage and support enterprise infrastructure including:

  • Network switches, wireless controllers and access points

  • Firewalls, VLANs, routing and Internet connectivity

  • Servers, storage, VMware and backup systems

  • Microsoft 365, Entra ID, DHCP and DNS

  • Monitor infrastructure performance, availability and capacity.

  • Identify infrastructure risks and recommend corrective actions.

  • Ensure infrastructure remains secure, stable and operational.

Incident & Problem Management

  • Provide L2/L3 infrastructure support and structured troubleshooting.

  • Manage incidents through to resolution or appropriate escalation.

  • Perform root cause analysis for recurring or major incidents.

  • Maintain incident documentation and recommend preventive measures.

Change & Configuration Management

  • Plan and implement infrastructure changes following IT change management processes.

  • Support scheduled after-hours maintenance when required.

  • Maintain accurate documentation including network diagrams, firewall rules, inventories, backup configurations, runbooks and asset records.

  • Ensure documentation and configuration backups are updated after approved changes.

Network & Security

  • Configure and maintain firewalls, switches, wireless infrastructure and network security controls.

  • Review firewall policies, VPNs, NAT, access controls and network segmentation.

  • Support compliance with organizational IT security standards.

Vendor & Project Management

  • Coordinate with vendors on implementation, troubleshooting and support activities.

  • Review vendor deliverables and manage timelines, risks and escalations.

  • Lead or support infrastructure projects from planning through implementation, testing, documentation and handover.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to infrastructure engineers.

  • Support task prioritization, quality assurance and operational best practices.

  • Lead technical activities during major incidents, infrastructure changes and project delivery.

Stakeholder Management

  • Communicate effectively with staff, business users, vendors and regional IT teams.

  • Provide timely updates on incidents, risks and project progress.

  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality and data security.

  • Take ownership and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Follow IT change, incident and security processes.

  • Deliver accurate, well-documented, high-quality technical solutions.

  • Support business operations with a customer-focused approach.

Job Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in IT in Computer Engineering, Information Technology or Information Systems

  • At least 7 years on hands on IT infrastructure experiences

  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading, supervising, or manging engineers or technical team members.

  • Professional Certification such as CCNA/CCNP/ITIL is advantageous

  • Strong hands-on experience with the following tech stack: Cisco Switches, Cisco and Meraki Wireless controllers, FortiGate firewalls, VLAN routings, NAT, VPN, DNS and DHCP, Windows Server, Microsoft 365, ENTRA ID, Backup and recovery platform or solutions.

  • Monitoring and alerting tools such as manage engine ops manager or equivalent.

  • Strong hands on troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong documentation discipline.

  • Team player
